Sat down at 7:45, was served our appetizer almost 40 minutes later. The calamari was very good. We then got our meals around 9:15. Chicken parmigiana was very good. The pasta it came with was a bowtie Alfredo? Kind of a weird combo. My girlfriend ordered the rigatoni mama rosa, was not good. The noodles were basically raw. Au dente is good, having a crunch is raw. Not to mention a table next to us who ordered 30 min after us received their meal before us and it was still sub par. Thankfully Franklin our waiter was understanding and took care of it.

The restaurant was mobbed the night we were there and there was only one server, hardly enough to handle the number of patrons. She was doing a remarkable job considering the circumstances, but service suffered regardless. We understood and will be back. This was the night the restaurants were giving 20% of proceeds to fire victims, so glad to see such a good turnout!

So I only travel to Dana Point periodically BUT I will always make an effort to go to Casanova’s. Restaurants like Casanova’s are unique, particularly in the ‘dining out’ experiences available these days. It can be intimate because it’s a small restaurant. BUT it’s obvious that a lot of people come to Casanova’s to ‘celebrate’ and so the noise level can be an issue. I was there on a Friday and the place was buzzing. A woman with 3 small children sat across from me and she endeavoured to keep the children seated and reasonably quiet. I applaud her efforts as children need to experience another level of ‘eating out’ besides MacDonald’s. Anyway, having said that I was not really disturbed by any of the other conversations in the room. And the server and the food didn’t disappoint, including at the bar! I hope to get back to Casanova’s again this year, if not? Arrivederci

We were a group of eight for a holiday get together. We sat at the high top table in the bar and it was perfect for conversation. Our waitress was exceptional, very attentive and professional. We all ordered the calamari or the eggplant and as always, outstanding! Great service, good food and drinks.

The food here is top tier delicious. Always recommend to anyone looking for great food and I love the red booths!

Everything was wonderful, except they were a little understaffed this evening and so we had to wait various times for our drink order and our food to arrive. However, our waiter was working very hard to accommodate all the tables that he was supposed to be serving.
