Focusing predominately on fresh local seafood with a French, Lowcountry flare, Charlie’s is the place for good food, good wine and unforgettable memories all enjoyed in a quaint French country atmosphere.

A Savannah native, Charlie Golson’s interest in the French language and culture took him to Paris. After a long stint in the fast paced hotel kitchens of Washington DC, he was ready to move back closer to home. It was at that time he was able to open up a one room French bistro. The restaurant has grown over the years, but the ‘Green Star’ remains steadfast in offering the finest ingredients the Low country has to offer with a menu that is hand written daily. Resort Casual.

Lucas was our server. He is excellent and personable. The whole meal was to die for. The best rainbow trout I’ve ever had. My wife had the duck breast and that was excellent as well. The wine prices in particular were reasonable, many fine wines by the glass for under $15. We will be back, soon.

First time at Charlies and we will return. Fish dishes were excellent, fresh, and unique. The chefs side salad was a wonderful starter. Cocktails were excellent as well. The decor is warm and inviting. There is a small outdoor space for warmer weather that looks really cute.

The experience overall was delightful. As we had a reservation we were welcomed warmly by the hostesses and immediately shown to our table. Our server was very conversational and very helpful. Their wine menu is comprehensive with even a choice of half bottles for those of us who enjoy a small amount. The most enjoyable part of the evening was the food. They have a new menu each day and the choices are difficult because ther are all so tempting with many varieties of fish all beautifully prepared and delicious. We chose the ahi tuna dish and rainbow trout. Absolutely delicious. Their sides are the same most nights- scalloped potatoes and string beans. The one downer is the noise level. Perhaos the ceiling is so low that voices bounce off it and it becomes a harang at times and annoying. But as long as the noise stays low overall Charlie's is worth a trip .

Outstanding service and food! The halibut was prepared perfectly and so was the roasted pork tenderloin. Our server, Lucas was professional and personable. We definitely recommend this establishment for fine dining.

We have dined at Charlie’s numerous times in the past and it has been one of our favorite spots. On this occasion it was sup par. We arrived early at 5pm. There were a few customers but not all busy at that time. Despite this, my wife’s Halibut entree arrived cold. Not a good start. My Flounder Meunière was soggy and watery rather than buttery and crisp. Hope our evening was a one off. We will give Charlie’s another try.
