   My second time to this restaurant and it has gone down hill to the point that I would rather go to Pizza Hut. There were only six entrees on the menu. They did not have two items the night we were there. No fish, chicken, lamb, or duck on the menu. If you want more of a fine dining meal, I suggest you make the short drive to Pipestem and try the Oak Supper Club.

   Didn't have our Open Table reservation, when we arrived. I dropped off my wife and parents (they are in their mid 80's), but, the hostesses (2), quickly announced there was no reservation -- even when I showed my phone with the email confirmation, they denied any such reservation and were very rude. My parents are REGULARS there, so, this is unacceptable. While they did end up seating us, quite begrudgingly, I will not go back there -- it's just okay, even without the inappropriate behavior from the staff, whom brushed us off with some kind of comment, indicating the owner doesn't use / honor Open Table. I don't live in that town, so, I would have no way of knowing that. Suggest you remove the listing of Chessie's from Open Table, if that's how your clients are received, when they arrive for confirmed reservations.

   We went to Hinton to just stay for the weekend, to have a place to stay while we went rafting. It was also a birthday celebration and I emailed ahead to ask for champagne for the table and explained the occasion. When we arrived everything was perfect with what I asked for. Our server was Matt and he was AMAZING!! I am a vegetarian and they had an awesome veg plate! Overall the experience was great, we actually went back later that night for some of the craft beers they offer and had Lisa as our bartender who was also AMAZING!! Loved both of them and the place. Definitely recommend to everyone and would go back!

   The food was way better than I expected. The bar was fun with friends and the service was impeccable.

   Chessies was an unexpected pleasure in the small town of Hinton. Delicious creatively-made and largely locally sourced food. The shrimp and grits are especially recommended.

   Out of Chicken and Dumplings on an early Saturday night. BBQ Shrimp and Cheesy Grits was really salty and the grits were not creamy nor did they taste like cheese. Burger was good but the onion rings were frozen version. The blackened trout was okay...wine selection was not a selection... HOWEVER...the espresso creme brûlée was delicious! We'll try again when the menu changes for the quarter.

   Wonderful food especially for a small town. Definitely save for it for special occasions.
