Bienvenue Chez Max!

Savory aromas drift from the kitchen as one enters the front door, giving a hint of culinary delights to come. The casual and comfortable, yet elegant interior of the restaurant is warm and inviting. A large stone fireplace adorns a corner in the main dining room, casting a soft glow around the room.

We are Richmond’s premier French dining experience. Our menu is a collection of dishes cultivated by a Master French chef. We offer an array of fine wines from around the world, 23 are poured by the glass. Our mixologist boasts an impressive range of signature crafted cocktails and guest favorites.

As we are often fully seated on Fridays and Saturdays, we can only hold a reservation for 15 minutes without advanced notice. We allocate 2 hours for parties of 2 to 5, 2 ½ hours for parties of 6 or more.

Or server, Roland, was amazing! He was knowledgable, friendly and very attentive to our needs. We have been to Chez Max before and have always enjoyed ourselves, but this time was absolutely superb! We brought friends that had never been and they were very impressed with the food and service, and we all plan to be back soon! Thank you for a wonderful experience again!

Oliver was our server and he did an exceptional job of making sure that all of my wife's allergies were addressed and the food was properly prepared. It is surprising that a high end restaurant offers no gluten free bread, roll, or breadsticks to customers who are gluten-free. As with lesser restaurants, my wife had brought her oun gluten-free crackers to eat while I enjoyed the fresh warm bread. I felt badly for her. When we inquired about possible future gluten-free breads being offered,, we were told that there was no intention to go in this direction.

Thank you for your feedback of Chez Max. Out of the 30 items we offer on our menu, only 5 are not gluten free or gluten free optional. I feel as a restaurant we are very conscious of the dietary concerns of our guests and do our best to accommodate. That said, the demand for a gluten free bread option (that we offer complimentary) is not high enough for us to consider carrying. We would either be providing a product we lack faith in the quality of or be throwing product away. In this economy especially, neither option is desirable.

Our server, I can't remember his name but we have had him before and he was great. I know that he has been there for a long time. The food is always delicious and the owner is very friendly and is interested in you enjoying your time there.

We just felt rushed. The servers were practically running - maybe they were short staffed, not sure, but the one we had spoke very fast, and we felt hurried. We had hoped for dessert but our check was brought instead. For the dollar amount, it should be a relaxed experience.
