Attended for NYE dinner with my partner. Not sure the prix fixe was the best value for money based on portions and quality, for the price have had a full degustation at other venues, but that's expected on NYE. Meals served quickly, like we were there an hour-ish at most, and staff were friendly enough. Limited wine and cocktail menu but all reasonably price. We were sat at the base of the stairs between dining room and bar, very little ambiance. Would try again, possibly on a non-event night.

A fabulous Christmas lunch with exceptional food, beautiful ambience and friendly service. We are visiting from Sydney and so grateful we were able to book our family Christmas lunch at Chez Olivier!

Have enjoyed Chez Olivier very much over the years and have visited regularly (starting with their bistro in Prahran). We waited for 40 mins after being seated, without any attention from the staff - not even a glass of water being brought to the table. We called the waitress over & ordered sparkling water & Kir Royales to be made from a bottle of Champagne ordered for the table. We were advised that there was no sparkling water available. Then we were served Sancerre (wine) not Champagne. The waitress asked ‘which Champagne’ and we advised ‘there is only one bottle of Champagne listed on your menu’. She was clearly annoyed by the misunderstanding, and unfriendly. Food-wise, the Entrées were good, Main ok and Desserts really good. We had been to Chez Olivier for Xmas lunch a couple of years ago and it was wonderful. Staff in the past have always been very friendly & helpful. Our Christmas lunch overall was spoilt by the lack of attention to our table & the waitress’s attitude - very disappointing.

Christmas lunch - and what a scrumptious lunch the three of us had. The freshest, tastiest oysters, the most delicious thymey terribe, a generous charcuterie board, home made breads, and salmon tartare - sooo good. There was plenty of choice for all food preferences. Our mains of duck breast, beef fillet and scallops were all perfectly cooked and presented followed by an amuse bouche that was both tangy, sweet and very refreshing. Daughter and I opted for creme brulee which was perfect - not too rich or sweet, silky smooth with its glowing toffee crust. Husband had the apple and blueberry crumble which he declared to be “yummy”. All with friendly service. A lovely lovely team who gave up their Xmas day to provide a memorable meal and day for us. Thank you so much, and thank you to the chefs, kitchen crew - and to the awesome magician who provided great tricks and laughs.

This dinner was unexpectedly incredible! From the service, to the wine list and the food, absolutely delightful 9/10 We had the snails and steak tartar to start - the absolute stars of the show! Then the prosciutto wrapped scotch fillet steak and char grilled eye fillet with the mushroom sauce 👩‍🍳😚👌 And to finish, a table-side blotched crème brûlée that was actually to die for!!!!

Always a great place to come back to for special occasions - the food is always superb as is the wine list. Friendly, authentically French staff. Our favourite French restaurant in Melbourne.

As has been stated previously, we have dined at Chez Olivier many times. We have always enjoyed excellent service from the friendly and courteous staff, high quality food and good value for money. It is our favourite restaurant in South Yarra.
