Best of British beef, butchered & dry-aged in house and cooked over a charcoal grill. Chop House is an innovative blend of classic British steakhouse and cocktail bar brought to you by the team behind Monteiths & the White Horse Oyster Bar. Provenance is at the centre of the Chop House offer and we use only the finest beef sourced from artisan suppliers across Scotland.
The meat is dry aged for up to 90 days to add flavour, increase tenderness then the beef cooked on a charcoal grill, specially designed to give a subtle smoky flavour. Our fantastic food offering is matched by an extensive wine list from around the world and exceptional cocktail list. Open 7 days for lunch, dinner and Sunday roast! We have another Chop House in Bruntsfield & Leith

Sunday lunch for four. The blackened rump of beef and coal roasted chicken were both excellent - very tasty, served with plenty of vegetables, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. All seasoned well and served with an excellent gravy. Deserts were also good. Friendly and attentive service.

Service was excellent. Sirloin steak was like a rump steak and steak knives were v v poor, it took a while to cut the steak. Sauces were mediocre and runny. Draft beer options were poor. I would not return.

Third visit to here and will not be back. There were 3 tables in including us and the service was very slow. Kids macaroni was burnt and tasteless which is a shame as the last time we were here the kids loved it. Adults food was lovely and could not fault, however after ordering dessert we waited nearly 30 minutes before a member of staff had told us there was a mix up in the kitchen which you find hard to believe when at this point there was 2 tables in. We were not charged for the kids meal or the dessert which I didn’t have anyway as waited long enough and had a train to catch. Staff seemed to completely down tools with how quiet it was. Really poor from a restaurant that has been superb on previous occasions.

The appetizer of Ox liver was large and had endive and some fennel With a Dijon sauce that was fantastic, the meat was rich like roast beef and near medium but tender and the sauce made the whole thing a delight. A had a Tristin 2019 red wine they don’t seem to call them cabs or merlot like we do in Napa (California) but had Pinot Noir , anyways my waiter commended me on my choice of matching up to the pigeon and radish and said the vineyard was actually a St John’s owned one but not by name. The pigeon was rare and very tasty, two full breasts in a partial reduction sauce that had an onion flavor and was subtle compared to the richness of the squab. The squab was delicate and fresh tasting, a long time favorite. The prices were reasonable and after walking 5 miles in the British Musuem a second glass of wine and enjoying the peaceful setting of the dining room. A memorable occasion ! Servers were attentive, smiling and helpful with my food intolerances for dairy and gluten. You can tell everyone takes pride in working there and it showed.

Overall was a lovely meal. Service was good, venue lovely, staff friendly. Kids menu was good… pudding had a very dark chocolate sauce on it, was so bitter my child couldn’t eat it. Spicy marg, wasn’t that great, lacked salt on the rim too. Steak sourdough was 85% bread, but the steak that was in the sandwich was cooked perfectly. Overall solid four … would recommend as a good option for kids if you wanted something a bit fancier but fair priced.
