   Overall a very nice restaurant and our server Thomas was great. It’s a small restaurant so expect a tight squeeze and to be able to hear your neighbors quite well. Biggest disappointment was the food for me. Appetizers were great but my Coq Au Vin was so unbelievably overcooked I could only eat the dark meat and even that took a while to chew through. Will probably come back but will just be for appetizers next time

   Overall wonderful meal and service. The bouillabase was over salted, but still very good.

   Was hoping for way more. Had to send back multiple dishes because they were cold. How do you send out one of your most expensive entrees (the duck) ice cold? You could tell a lot of the apps like the deviled eggs were premade. The white parts were freezing indicating they have been sitting in the fridge for a while. The Gruyère bites had no dough inside and were cold it, was essentially eating an inflated softer goldfish snack. Do not accept a table upstairs, they literally forget about you. Waitress had to be reminded to give us bread and some of our drinks multiple times. My steak was fine, but you could get way better ones all around downtown. Also had a 7:45 reservation, had to wait 20 mins to get seated and we didn’t leave until 10:20PM. Just everything took so long and was cold. A shame really.

   Food was extremely average. Bread, fries and Mac & cheese were the highlight. Flank steak was very tough and not cooked to requested temperatures. Onion soup had no flavor. Coq Au Vin had an overwhelming bacon/smoked flavor. Service was slow and not attentive for the price. Had to call over a manager to pay our bill as our server was “busy” talking to a friend at the bar. I doubt we will be going back. Way over rated and over priced for the food/service.

   We were excited to try Chouette, and I left disappointed. While some dishes, like the mac & cheese, French Onion soup, and desserts, were great, others were not, and the experience didn’t match expectations for the price. Total food & beverage bill was $220 before tip. The $39 hanger steak was served cold, and the butter didn’t melt. I provided feedback to the server, and $19 was graciously taken off the bill, which was appreciated, but my steak leftovers weren’t included in the take-home bag. I was going to microwave that to finally enjoy the Black Truffle & Foie Gras butter. Service was friendly by our sever, but others not so much, and overall service was disappointing, slow, and seemed stretched thin. No one asked how our food was, if it was cooked to temperature, or checked specifically on the dining experience. The wine service lacked the usual presentation and tasting, and cork inspection. We also had to pour our own wine which is fine but usually service it attentive to that at restaurants with similar price points. While the flavors were good, these issues left the experience feeling subpar, especially for a special night out.

   We came here by recommendation for my husband’s 40th birthday. We were seated upstairs, and due to the proximity of the floor to ceiling, it was incredibly loud and hard to hear. Our food and drinks were wonderful, and our server was great up until our meals came. We had been finished eating for THIRTY minutes before she came back to check on us (including the surrounding tables she was serving). We were going to order desserts, but due to how long it took for her to return to our table, we decided to just get the check and leave. After she returned and we asked for the check, it took another 10 minutes to receive it. Although our food was great, it was pretty disappointing experience, especially for a special night celebrating his birthday.

   We had dessert and wine - both very good. We were upstairs which was quaint and enjoyable. The noise coming up from bar was very loud but it was Friday night around 10 pm so perhaps to be expected

   Second time dining at Chouette as we really wanted to like it. It’s just not great—they have a lot of things that are very good, but it never really comes together.
