Inspired by the warmth and vibrancy of Jamaica’s culture and people, Chubby's Jamaican Kitchen is a take on traditional Jamaican cooking balanced with relevant culinary twists. Co-founded as a passion project by Gusto 54 founder Janet Zuccarini and Angela Lawrence, Gusto 54’s Chief Culture Officer, Chubby’s is a celebration of their long friendship, and their love and respect for the island’s food and all the amazing Jamaican cooks they know.

Located in a circa-1890 row house re-envisioned by Partisans Architects and interior designer Wendy Haworth, Chubby’s boasts two floors of seating, two bars, and two outdoor patios. It melds old and new, inside and out to create a transporting dining experience complete with delicious Caribbean cooking, eclectic design and soulful hospitality. Chubby's is also a Michelin Guide CA - rated restaurant.

De la part des éditeur·rice·s d'OpenTable: Il fait toujours soleil dans ce restaurant jamaïcain décontracté qui fait le bonheur de ses habitué·e·s avec son sensationnel poulet jerk et son pot-au-feu à la queue de bœuf. Quoi de mieux qu'un mojito à l'hibiscus, ou deux, pour agrémenter le tout? Pour la saison chaude, il y a une terrasse arrière, mais on n'a tout autant l'impression d'être sous les tropiques dans la salle à manger tapissée d'une luxuriante forêt de plantes.

The meal and service was extraordinary. It was my wife’s first time dining here. She was very happy with the meal, drinks, service, and overall ambience.

One of the best kept secrets in this city! Went there with a couple friends and the curry goat, jerk chicken, oxtail stew, coleslaw and Scotch bonnet aoli were to die for! Will be coming back here again!!

Great experience. However, The rice w peas and white rice was very questionable. Didn’t seem fresh and authentic at all. The goat meat, jerk pork and plantain was amazing!!

We had a wonderful experience. The food was yummy Zack our server was amazing. The only thing is they stop serving alcohol at 10pm

Was a second time there and wont be our last. Everything was amazing. We had the oxtail, curry chicken, plantain mash and everything was do die for. Also the fried plantain is always cook to perfection. Eating here is like eating all my grandmas recipes but better. Shhh dont tell her.

Portions were extremely small, even for a winterlicious menu. And it just wasn't that good. My aunt didn't finish her chicken, her ackee and salt fish was extremely fishy tasting. Never had salt fish taste like that, ever. The chicken and pork lacked in flavor. Definitely not authentic. If I blind tasted the carrot cake, I'd never guess that was the flavor. Hardly any difference between the vanilla and rum-raisin ice cream. I was actually really disappointed. The server also made us feel rushed, even after only being there for an hour. It just wasn't a great experience which was such a let down after all the hype over the restaurant.

They were very accommodating as we arrived early for our reservation. The atmosphere was nice and we were able to converse without any issues. Had winterlicious menu and price was good. We ordered take out as well but portion seemed small. The soup had great flavour however, was a little salty. Would recommend as it was a nice experience.

Good use of a small space. Sat at the bar. It was a tight squeeze. Hopefully next time I can get a table
