   Delicious tea, wished it was hotter and they poured your first cup. Some of the bread could be fresher.

   Wonderful experience! We ordered the vegan tea and the service was incredible. Excellent tea and delicious vegan alternatives for the sandwiches and sweets. Highly recommended!

   The ambiance is nice but the couches and chairs are not conducive for sitting comfortably. The food was average. And for $120 I would have expected more. The tea selection was very small and when they refilled your pot they simply pored hot water over the already used bags. On a positive note, the services was good. I have always used the Royal York’s valet service as it has always been reasonable. They have now more then doubled the cost to $75 and when we picked up the car we were handed our key and they pointed to our car which was covered in snow. As we knew we would us valet we had left our winter coats in the car. Made for a cold experience. One lady was so frustrated she got out of her car and started directing traffic. I have used this service for years and have never seen it so chaotic and unprofessional. I would not recommend the overall experience when there are other spots with better high tea.

   Just when I was giving up on good quality afternoon tea in Canada , I experienced the Royal York Hotel afternoon tea at Clockwork! What a lovely experience my daughter and I had. It was a quiet Saturday afternoon. We were welcomed to the tea and taken care of by Paul and Leah, superb, excellent staff-soft voices, unobtrusive, helpful and well skilled. We were seated at a perfect corner table with luxurious bankette and chair seating at a beautifully set table! The glassware, china and silverware were sparkling and well set. The teapot and cream and sugar were set at a smaller table conveniently located below and beside the main table. Such a good idea! The meal began with a lovely sparkling wine served in a beautiful glass. It was crisp and cold and delicious and kicked off the afternoon well. The tea came hot, but sadly tea bags were used rather than leaves. The small, warm scones came with whipped cream (would have preferred clotted cream) and a nice fruit compote. They were very tasty. My only negative comment would be that they needed to be three times larger and taller in height and/or more in number for each guest. Very nice, though. The sandwiches were amazing. Very well prepared and delicious. Great care and skill was spent in preparing them using substantial amounts using excellent ingredients. All were very delicious- my daughter adored the smoked salmon press and I loved the lobster & Fogo island shrimp roll. The roast beef was also another favourite! The only comment was that you may want to do something other than a tart (Preserved tomato and goat cheese tart) as that base is repeated in the lemon tart for dessert. One of my pet peeves of afternoon tea is that the savoury is not substantial enough. I am happy to say that this was not the case. We were served beautiful, delicious and filling sandwiches! Maybe one more sandwich would be decadent but perhaps too over the top for some. Thank you chef!!!! The desserts were lovely. Bravo!!!

   I remember having tea at the RY 12 years ago when it was upstairs - beautiful setting, good food and it was such a treat and felt like an event. Not quite the same feel in the lobby - it is still a beautiful lobby, but seemed better suited for business meeting events. The food was good but the value was definitely not there - I was willing to pay more for the experience but it just didn't happen.

    Lovely tables and chairs. Attentive service. Food was mediocre . It was noisy at times . Very expensive
