Specials on the menu were great. Tempura prawns for starter and Cajun chicken burger with pulled pork for main. Regular burger was delicious, very tender and moist. Steak from the main menu wasn’t great. A bit tough in places and not really rare, more medium. Didn’t have sweets, but options looked good. Service was very good, wine reasonably priced and atmosphere was pleasant. Have booked for another visit.

Nice place to eat. Efficient staff, very friendly, worked hard with minimum numbers. Good choice of food, fresh local produce.

Lovely peaceful break. Our accommodation was amazing with the little gift for our dog. The restaurant was nice. We ate there twice. Our favourite was the Sunday roast was lovely. It was just what we needed and said we would be back again

We got there five minutes ahead of our time. We were seated and then it was at least ten minutes before someone came to take our drinks order. We then sat waiting and food began to be served to a table next to us, it did not look great for the price being charged. We continued to wait another 10 minutes and still no drinks and as it was only 6:30 , there were few tables being used. At this point we got up and left , after I told the head waiter we were going and advised I would post my review. We went to the Shire Inn 3 miles from Clowance and had a beautiful meal, with fabulous service, despite the fact it was busy and also had a function on for a wake. We will be returning there

We booked for Sunday lunch and had the roast beef. We got a good plate full, two slices of beef, potatoes, yorkshire pudding, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, and the beef was good and tender.

We had just arrived at Clowance to stay for a week and going out to eat is waaaay better than the hassle of preparing something yourself. The staff were welcoming and the food was great. What more can you ask for.

I brought my visitors to have an evening meal as I had previously had a good time. On this occasion it appeared that the staff were untrained had no observational powers or any common sense in terms of clearing tables when people had vacated thus leaving the room and many tables with dirty crockery, glasses and cutlery. Very unseemly. The table staff did not know how the meals were to be served i.e. did they come with vegetables, did it have a sauce etc - a training need from the chef to explain how each dish will appear at the table. \When we asked for extra vegetables we were told after asking the kitchen that there were no vegetables and nothin g was kept in the freezer ! Not a great statement from what is supposed to be a professional kitchen. In terms of the room there were 2 tables that were so noisy ( I would add that these were adults not young children ) that we left early and not partaking in coffee or more drinks we also commented on the chairs that were ripped and damaged. Not a great experience and for those 'owners' paying the exorbitant maintenance fees

As a family of five, with two teenagers and one 6 year old, we came away feeling disappointed and very hungry! The prices were high compared to the serving size. Our meal was £130 for 4 stayers, 4 mains, 1 child’s set meal, one beer and a lemonade. The deal ‘kids eat for £1’ is a con, in my opinion, as a kids set meal is usually cheaper (£5 for a drink, main and ice cream). The £1 deal means just the main is £1 and they charge you separately for the drink and ice cream making it more than £5 altogether. I raised this with the server at the time & he said there was nothing he could do about it. The servers were polite but forgetful. We asked for our youngest child’s main to come out with the starters as she was hungry but it didn’t. In fact, hers was the last to come out of the mains despite a few gentle reminders. We ordered extra drinks which never turned up and we had to chase. It was a quiet evening - 5 families in total between 6 - 9pm. I wouldn’t recommend or eat here again as we were all hungry afterwards despite having starters and mains. No one liked the puddings on offer. Also, £7.50 for ice cream is a ridiculous price.
