   We attended cocotte bistro for brunch. The food tasted very good and is reasonably priced but the food was not well presented on the plate. The service was unfortunately not good and the atmosphere was fine. They didn’t utilize the beautiful entry way for seating and there’s no hooks to place purses.

   Le style du restaurant est très sympa, implanté dans l’entrée du l’hôtel Meltacafe. Nous sommes tombé sur un serveur adorable qui s’est extrêmement bien occupé de nous. Par contre on a dû attendre 45 min pour être servis et c’est long… Heureusement que les plats étaient bons, mais pour le dessert, nous avons pris le bavarois, et j’avais surtout la sensation de manger un coulis de fruit avec beaucoup de gélifiant et un peu de crumble par dessus. C’est dommage car à quelques détails près, l’expérience aurait pu être parfaite ! Je vous recommande d’essayer quand même par vous même car peut être que nous sommes venu un jour où il n’y avait pas assez de personnel (d’où le temps d’attente) et que nous sommes un peu trop difficile.

   The venue and ambience are nice. Vitor our server did his best but kitchen was extremely slow. What could not be overlooked was the quality and poor execution of the food. The soup was lukewarm, the tartare was an off putting grey and lacking an egg and served with a stack of thick slices of soft toast. Entrees when they finally arrived did not fare better. the veal blanquette was a soupy saucy mess, the moules were lukewarm and accompanied by what can be described as chip wagon fries (not the fresh thin fries one usually associates with frites). Other than the names of the dishes, none of the food resembled anything one would consider French cuisine - bistro or otherwise. It’s such a shame given the charming space. We didn’t stick around for dessert.

   Food was quite good although pricey. However, service was not good. First, they brought us a latte when we asked for cappuccino. They insisted it was capuchino but two different waiters said it was latte and tasted like that. Then we waited for 50’ for the food. Our waitress request the food for 3 tables at the same time and the one they came latest got their food earlier. We complained to the manager who apologized and said she was going to speak with chef but I don’t think this was the chef fault - it was the waitress fault. She did not apologize - she just said it was very busy. She also messed up the bill but as we were in a rush we did not complain. At least, we got a discount for the drinks due to this poor service, that we appreciate.

    Usually it’s a solid service but I understand that the holidays sometimes make it difficult to keep up standards. This time around, we had a few issues but they were addressed at the end of our meal.
