From the OpenTable editors: Fine-dining vet Jordan Smith has plenty of fun with the menu at his French-ish Ferndale spot that the Detroit Free Press named 2024's best new restaurant. The sleek wooden interiors make it feel very upscale, but Coeur is totally unpretentious and laidback. Expect a seasonal menu of dishes like a branzino curry with trumpet mushroom and next-level desserts from pastry chef Carla Spicuzzi like a swanky take on a Choco Taco.     At Coeur, we're super excited for a collaboration with Zach Berg of Monger’s Provisions. Zach and Chef Jordan met and worked together at RN74 in San Francisco, a wonderful modern French restaurant that set the dining world on fire in 2010. These two will step into the Coeur kitchen and run back dishes from that iconic old-school French menu. A sort of ode to their friendship, but also to their San Francisco restaurant roots.

During the 1.5-hour interactive lecture, Sean will guide you through the region’s diverse terroir, exploring some of his favorite producers.     Our server was wonderful as were all of the assistants. Everybody loved their dinner and the desserts were fantastic. We will definitely be back.

    Always a fine meal at Coeur. This was our first time trying the tasting menu. Theme was "Fast Food February". Four savory tastings and a dessert- all aiming for a fast food palette with creativity and whimsy. Every tasting plate was beautifully presented and every bite just knock out amazing. Even the dessert was worth the calories. Often, tasting menus are too over the top with the amount of food served and we tend to get too full or even bored before it is all served. Sometimes less is more. In this case the serving sizes were just right and we could enjoy it all from the first tasting to the last. Service at Coeur has always been top notch. There's a warm vibe to the place all around.

    As always, we were treated to exquisitely prepared food and superb service. Without doubt, this is one of the best restaurants in the area.

    Something is missing at Coeur. I wish them all the best, but something in the food, service, and experience matrix isn’t lining up. I wish drinks were quicker, plates should have been spaced out further to avoid large waits between courses, and overall level of service should have been higher for the price.

    The place was great. Think the food was a tad under. Had the Branzino and the flavor was excellent but the crust could be flakier. My date had the short rib and it also had great flavor but could’ve been brought up to a higher temp to be more tender. Atmosphere was great! We appreciated the coat check as well. Want to come back for drinks soon.

    Always a great experience. Great menu, good prices, excellent service. Knowledgeable staff and Somalia chef and owner is on the floor and visits each table adding a personal touch.

    We had the Valentine's tasting menu. It was excellent. The risotto was perfectly cooked and the flavors amazing. We enjoyed all 5 courses and of my husband had to order the freshly baked bread. He is addicted to it.

    We had our anniversary dinner here Saturday night. Staff and service was impeccable. We were welcomed with a celebratory drink, and a signed card by the staff! An unexpected touch. We had the tasting menu of 5 courses and were really impressed with all 5. The chef came out to discuss the meal and made a memorable evening. Highly recommend!
