Take a seat at our signature French-inspired bistro, Couvant, housed in the former Peychaud Cocktail Bitters factory. Here, French techniques play on the roots of New Orleans cuisine using fresh, local ingredients.

New Orleans is renowned for its French cuisine, and you won’t have to leave the confines of The Eliza Jane to enjoy delicious fare within a French bistro.

Couvant specializes in classic French cooking serving entrees that pay homage to French history and regional specialties. Never pretentious, the dishes and service at Couvant are purposefully simple and social. Nestle into an intimate dining room banquette.     The restaurant is a dreamy setting. The food was wonderful and the service was even better. Definitely recommend!

    Service is decent but refilled drinks are not a priority. Food is only ok, especially for the price. Crust on crispy chicken sandwich is not crispy and has a strange texture (plus tastes of uncooked flour) but the chicken breast was tender. There are better places to eat in NOLA.

    Everything was perfectly prepared… from the drinks, pens cup, especially made very well. The fish was perfect and I’ve never had fried brussels sprouts that were so good. In fact I don’t even usually like them and I ate them all since they were so good. The dessert was perfect crème brûlée! The service was great! I have to say it was a “10” dining experience!

    We have found The Golden Gem of New Orleans brunch here. Started with World Famous Bartender DJ new MardiMambo signature drink then amazing service by Ashley who was on point with everything recommendation of delicious foods She was bubbly and fun 10 STARS we will be back sure soon to treat the kitchen staff with sone Cajun Boudin !!! Happy Mardi Gras

    Went to Couvant for lunch (noon) on a Monday. It was President’s Day. Wasn’t crowded. Staff very friendly. Food was good. My wife and I ordered two drinks drinks, the duck eggrolls, avocado toast and the shrimp and grits. Before tip, the bill was around $88. Would come back. Thank you Couvant staff!

    The food was outstanding, but the service and atmosphere were not. It was a Sunday at 1 - peak brunch time - and there were only three other tables being utilized in the entire big restaurant. It felt very strange. Then, when we walked up to check in, they asked us to wait in a waiting area (it was beautiful). I'm not sure why we needed to wait since nearly every table in the restaurant was available. When they did bring us to our table, it was directly across from the kitchen door. Very odd that they would choose that table. We asked to be reseated and they agreed. Service was slow and at time inattentive. Again, not sure why since there were a total of about 15 customers in the whole place.

    This restaurant is in the lovely Eliza Jane hotel my husband and I stayed. After having Alabama oysters in a half shell and shrimp cocktail from the bar the night before, I was confident brunch at Couvant would be just as good. The salad and bacon were delicious but we were disappointed in the shrimp and grits. They were flavorles, deflated and tasted like what I'd expect to get in Detroit, or another non coastal city. For $130 in the capital of delicious cuisine, very underwhelming.
