Chef and Owner Mike Truss has had lifelong ties to the "field fresh" culinary concept. In his youth, he spent a good amount of time on his grandfather’s local vegetable farm. The farm, names Truss Farm and located on Pine Street in Plantsville, had 5 greenhouses and produced 5,000 pepper plants, 5,000 tomato plants, as well as dozens of other plant varieties. In his youth, Chef Mike would help his grandfather prepping fields, maintaining buildings, growing seedlings, planting, picking, and delivering veggies and flowers. Thanks to these early experiences, Truss has carried a deep and personal appreciation and understanding of the labors that go into quality produce.

Delicious food and cocktails in a lively setting. Service is slow and took over 2 1/2 hours to finish dinner. So as long as you don’t have after dinner plans it’s good.

In an empty restaurant at prime lunch service time, we ordered a very simple sandwich and pasta…. and we waited, and we waited, and we waited… until 1 hour and 6 minutes had passed (we counted) and she still couldn’t tell us when our food was coming, so we had to leave due to timing. For a casual place on a busy highway next to a hotel, it was bizarre. Hope the staff was able to enjoy our food eventually!

We have eaten at CK in Plainville before and have always thought the food was delicious. Service was always terrific. For our most recent visit we had a 6:00 pm reservation but arrived to find the place already crowded and noisy; however, we were seated immediately and our polite and pleasant server promptly took our drink orders. Following that, things went downhill. We had to wait 45 minutes for our food and were disappointed when it was delivered. My husband ordered gluten free pizza and the edges of the crust were burnt black but he said the rest was fine and ate it anyway. I ordered the "flagship" mac and cheese with roasted vegetables and discovered that the top part was hot but the rest underneath was lukewarm. Our server at this point was over extended with the amount of tables she was assigned but she still came over asap and brought my dish back to be reheated. My husband was finished with his pizza by the time my food came back. We're hoping that this was just an "off" night and that we will have a more positive dining experience the next time we visist.

Food is good .. The down fall is lousy service and very slow.. I’ll stick to the Meriden Ave one .. The service there is always very good and the food is excellent.. 5 stars for that one ..

Visited with two friends. Our only complaint was veggie burger was dry and service/food arrival very slow

Food was good… took a while to get… drinks were off and actually had to return one….and service was nit that good …. As a table of two we were essentially ignored until we were going to leave… it was much better before… will have reconsider before we come back since there are so many other good options…

We went on a Sat. night and they seated more people than the kitchen could accommodate. We had to hunt someone down to bring us utensils to eat with. We ordered at 6:30pm and did not get our meal until 7:50pm. My husbands meat was undercooked and salty and my meal was not hot. Unfortunately, the hand cut fries were over cooked and dried out. The waitress was overwhelmed.

Food was not good. Onion soup had no taste. Meatballs were very bland. Potato gnocci was horrible and expensive. Will not eat there again.
