Open since October of 1990, The Dakota has been a pioneer in the culinary industry on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain. Their cuisine is influenced by the flavorful Creole cuisine, with Contemporary Louisiana. Other influences include the Southwest, California, and Asia using fresh local and seasonal ingredients.
The carefully selected wines pay tribute to the well crafted wines of North America while offering many of the traditional Old World styles of Europe.
In October of 2023, The Dakota moved to its new location in Historic Downtown Covington...just a block from the iconic Southern Hotel.
The Dakota continues to set the mark for what people look for when they dine – well crafted food, detail-oriented service, plush surroundings, and genuine hospitality.

                                                                    Tyler and Rebecca were both great and the dishes were prepared well. However, both the chicken breast and the tenderloin needed more seasoning. If they'd been seasoned properly it'd be 5 stars.

                                                                    Very special treat to drive from Memphis just to eat here. Our server, Shawn, is a delight. Very attentive, personable, knowledgeable and overall a good/nice person. The food…. AMAZING! The detailed presentation and flavor is 5 star plus. Atmosphere is energetic, romantic, and relaxing. Will definitely make the drive again just to eat here. Thank you for the incredible experience!

                                                                    It was a memorable dinner returning to Dakota's for our 30th wedding anniversary after 25 years. Extremely delicious, fantastic quality , courteous staff, Just a wonderful experience. The only down side was the lamb nachos. Just not how we remembered. Not the best. But we will be back no question. Highly recommend.

                                                                    Dakota is the best restaurant on the north shore. The quality of the food, the service and the atmosphere make it our favorite. It's well worth the cost, evebn though it is not inexpensive.

                                                                    The Service & Food was Fantastic. Our waiter catered to all needs and worked with me as we had 2 Foid allergic patrons at our table. The only problem I have with The Dakota is No Valet and parking is Horrible at best.
