When visiting the restaurant, patrons descend 18 feet underground in a canopied glass elevator, accessed from street level, for a culinary experience unlike any other. The American Steakhouse offers an expansive 1,800 square foot subterranean courtyard allowing patrons to dine al fresco and enjoy a New Orleans-inspired exterior space. This cool oasis is complete with a 20 foot, 5-tiered granite water wall, multi-tiered landscaping, lava rock fire pit, and black granite bar. Dakota's below-ground patio has long been considered one of the city's most romantic dining spots.

We believe the best steaks come from the best cut and quality. That’s why we get all of our beef fresh from renowned beef purveyors, Allen Brothers. Each cut is corn and grain fed USDA Prime steak that our chef handpicks. Each steak is aged for a minimum of 28 days for a perfectly tender, juicy bite every time.

It is our goal to give you a great meal every time you join us for lunch or dinner.

We come to Dakotas every time we have family in town- it’s so great we always have to share it!! The oysters are so clean tasting, they’re my favorite anywhere. The creme brûlée is so tasty! Would always recommend.

We were celebrating 24th anniversary. The restaurant and the atmosphere were amazing. We sat in the bar area, our server went above and beyond to make it a special experience. Our steaks were perfectly cooked, and were delicious. Thank you for making our night special.

This is top notch cuisine with an extensive wine selection! The experience has its prize tag which is all good. I do not support the 20% auto-service charge on top of it.

Food was delicious!… however the premium price point left some to be desired as it pertained to portions. Service was a little slow, but worst than that somewhat rude when we raised a question about the preparation and also execution of the order. They tried to make up for it by offering dessert but I prefer good service when paying $500 for dinner as opposed to a $12 slice of cake.

Great experience! The food was phenomenal and Steve was a wonderful server. The valet was very friendly and Mary the hostess was so nice. Will definitely return soon.

Brian was great! Food was all perfect- we had filet mignon lobster mac tater tots tiramisu cheesecake and sweet potato fries. Everything was very good. Sadly the beef Wellington is wrapped in prosciutto, which was a bit disappointing as we don’t eat pork- However its our fault for not checking!! Drinks were good and strong as well. Great view and the pianist coupled with the dim lighting made for a perfect romantic ambiance . Only complaint would be that they aren’t very strict with their dress-code- saw someone wearing lululemon leggings and sneakers which kind of threw me off. Feel like it cheapens the place. But overall very great experience .
