Food was reasonable, as was the price. There was nothing that we had that was in any way special. We had a shredded lamb rice plate, probably the best, and a mixed grill of beef and chicken. We also had a sampler starter of 3 falafels, hummus, baba ghanoush, tahziki. None were special. Service was adequate.

A wonderful surprise to find such an outstanding Iraqi restaurant in downtown Portland. The pecan crusted pompano fish was very flavorful and delicious.

First time at Dar Salam, and wow, the kebab and chicken are flavorful and juicy. The hummus and bread are delicious, and the rice is cooked perfectly. I recommend Dar Salam to anyone. Our waiter was a great and friendly host.

Even though I had a reservation, I was asked to sit at the bar until seats opened up in the dining area. I was a few minutes early, so I agreed to wait. Around my reservation time, a few seats opened up but my server seated a couple that walked-in without a reservation. So I decided to switch to carry-out as the bar was mostly used as a storage/break area. The falafel rice plate was lacking in seasonings and was dry (needs more stew). Hopefully, no one else gets this treatment at this establishment.

Delicious food. Fun ambiance. Can’t go wrong! The only improvement I can think of is serving more than one pita with the hummus ;) the hummus serving size is for at least four people, so four pitas would make more sense. That being said… My son thought it was the best hummus of his life!
