David Burke Tavern is a modern American restaurant by award-winning Celebrity Chef David Burke. Situated on the first two stories of a stately townhouse on New York City’s Upper East Side, the restaurant showcases Burke’s creative and contemporary approach to classic fare – often with showstopping presentations. Signature dishes highlight seafood, steakhouse staples and beyond, including Lobster Dumplings with spicy tomato, Crab Cake Pretzel Raft, Tavern Cheeseburger, and Burke’s famous “Clothesline” Maple & Black Pepper Candied Bacon, plus a full SUSHI MENU. David Burke Tavern offers dinner, bar and lounge menus, as well as multiple private dining spaces including the intimate Himalayan Salt Room lined with pink sea salt bricks. Private dining spaces can accommodate anywhere from 10-100 guests, with options to reserve floors and the full restaurant.

    David Burke Tavern is situated in a beautiful old town house on the east side. The food and selection are good, not great. Wait staff and support staff do an excellent job. I will say that the reception on the ground floor felt unwelcoming and off putting and impacted our perception from the moment we walked in.

    Went for Valentine's Dinner. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the hostess who had amazing energy and was very welcoming. We were escorted to our table (we got to pick) and we're able to order a round of drinks. It was a fixed priced menu and overall the menu options looked pretty good. Our server was not very friendly or attentive, the food runners and bussers were helpful. The amuse was different than what was advertised but it was a tasty cauliflower dish, the lobster canneloni was good, the Caesar Salad had a so much grated parmesan that you choked with every bite (not very well done for something so simple). The amuse also had a lot of grated parmesan. The entree were good, but the foie gras on the wellington was undercooked so I just pushed it aside. Desserts were good, but underwhelming considering David Burke's flair for desserts. Overall, I wouldn't recommend for Valentine's Day. Given the price and David Burke's reputation, I expected a better overall experience.

    Had the perfect valentine's day, was an amazing set menu, the hot toddy was hot and perfect, the wine was delish with generous pours and they let us take our time and enjoy the evening. All the service people were warm and welcoming. We'll come back for sure!

    We had simple dishes (steak frites, tuna tartar), and they were very good. Service was courteous and efficient. It is possible to converse in the upstairs dining room, a criterion we use more and more often to select a restaurant.

    It is one of our favorite restaurants. A neighborhood gem and we always have an excellent meal with excellent service

    Indifferent service lowered overall rating. Food was fabulous. Shouldn’t have to follow up twice for side order that wasn’t delivered until 10 minutes after main courses.

    Lovely quiet, delicious Restaurant Week lunch with exceptional service. Only wish prices for bread and desserts were slightly less expensive.

    I like the atmosphere of this place, and the staff really seem to care about your opinion of the experience. My wife and I go there on special occasions and during restaurant week when the fare is more affordable, but it's consistently good. The wine list might need some tweaking, but the rest works very well.
