From the owner of David's (Portland, ME), 388 is a comfortable and casual neighborhood nook where diners can enjoy a range of bold flavors. Both restaurants share the signature of Chef/Owner David Turin, and David's 388 is built "by the Chef, for the Chef." Every week, David's 388 thrills the palette with new dishes that have both creative and traditional influences spanning the width of the globe.     Very well prepared food. Portions were modest, which is good. Nice neighborhood atmosphere. Good service. All the way a good restaurant should be and which keeps people coming back.

    Ordered Med Rare steak, it was more Med. Disappointed. Thought I was ordering Focaccia Haddock, buy instead was served the Haddock of the day with Pesto. My 2nd visit where I've been disappointed by pesto. Will be a while before we go back.

    We had the most delicious meal — the main course a special for Maine Restaurant Week, garlic shrimp with a crispy potato croquette and chopped tomato relish. So good! The beet salad to start and citrus crème brûlée completed an outstanding dinner. David’s 388 never disappoints!

    Restaurant Week outing that didn’t disappoint. Miss the brunch they used to do on Sundays.

    I saw duck meatballs and meatloaf on the Maine Restaurant Week menu, and wanted to try it, curious how David’s will flavor one of my favorite foods, meatloaf! He did not disappoint in flavor and presentation! The dessert of the day was blueberry sorbet, scraped every bit of it off the bowl. My son had always loved David’s clam chowder…what he creates with flavors delights all the senses.

    This is our new favorite restaurant. Cozy ambience and totally delicious food. We sat at the chef’s table and had a great experience. Will definitely be returning.

    Joined friends and the four of us tried out this restaurant during Restaurant Week. None of us had been previously, but we were all in agreement we look forward to attending again. With tax, tip and a drink price was around $75pp. Not inexpensive by any means, but for the food, ambiance, smells, conviviality and overall warm comfortable space, we felt it was well worthwhile. The food was delicious and the portions were just right. I don't think I left a single thing on any plate for the 3 dishes I had. My wife, who is much (!) more petite, had leftovers from the main course. A 2nd meal for her - yum. The angel food cake dessert was amazing. So much so we asked the chef to come out and take a bow and hear our enthusiasm. If the price is not unreasonable for you, I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this restaurant for a date night; or a get together with friends; or for foodies who like to sit at the counter overlooking the kitchen; or those who like to sit and eat at the bar and perhaps meet new friends. Excellent. Highly recommended.
