What Dear John’s is to steak, Dear Jane’s will be to seafood. Seasoned chefs and entrepreneurs Hans Röckenwagner and Josiah Citrin have teamed up again for Dear Jane's. Taking full advantage of the stunning marina view, the focus is on classic American seafood dishes prepared simply with the highest-quality ingredients by seasoned chefs. From Oysters Rockefeller to Shrimp Louie, Surf ‘n Turf and Crepes Zuzette, the menu hews to those of some of the most legendary seafood restaurants of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. It will feel familiar and upscale, yet updated and approachable.

This sensibility will be on full display with hand-mixed tartare, classic caviar service, and professionally fileted whole fish. The layout of the split-level room and spacing between booths and tables are ideal for this personalized service that is begging to come back in style in this dining room.

    For a price fix dinner was very satisfying. Enough choices and price was fare for this special occasion.

    It was a wonderful NYE Epicuriean experience. The service was good, but it felt somewhat rushed. The food was good but not outstanding, but the view of the fireworks at 9:00 p.m. and the beautiful atmosphere made the night fantastic. Thank you for making our favorite restaurant in the MDR…Dear Jane, and Happy New Year!

    We had an early reservation and requested a booth, but despite the restaurant being only half full, we were seated at a table right in front of the kitchen, which was noisy and had constant foot traffic. The Fonda 75 cocktail was underwhelming, and the Ahi Tuna Tartare tasted overwhelmingly of vinegar and pickle juice. Both the Lobster Fra Diavolo and the Trout were bland and lacked any real flavor. Even the Chablis by the glass was disappointing, tasting flabby and uninspiring. The only bright side of the meal were the Oysters and the Mushroom Ravioli. However, the service left much to be desired. Our server took our order without offering any recommendations, and only checked in once, right after the food was delivered. To make matters worse, the staff seemed disorganized—multiple times, they asked us which dish belonged to which diner. They obviously do not know how to put the right plate to the right person. Considering the price point, we expected much better food and service. Worst of all, the booths we had initially requested remained empty the entire time we were there. This was our second visit, and it's clear that we won't be returning.

    Pre dinner cocktails in the bar area was 5 stars on service and quality. Once seated in the dining room the service deteriorated quickly. The main waiter was present only at the beginning and again at the end of the meal. In between, we were served with inexperienced staff who did know what was ordered by each person. Half of the entrees were like warm at best. For the price of the food, the service and quality needs to improve significantly before I will return. I want to note that management did adjust the bill, but this doesn’t fix the lapse in service.

    food tasted very good with fresh ingredients but not served hot, just lukewarm...waitress was well schooled and friendly..so problem is in kitchen timings that rely too much on heat lamps... wild mushroom soup and swordfish steak were nicely conceived...wine by glass selection was OK but narrow.

    This must have been the worst dinning experience I have ever had. We completely understand we came on a busy night and it was a set menu, however every single plate on the table was cold. We ATE COLD DINNER. When we asked for a manager at first we were told she was busy, RUDE. Then she came out and brought the chef to apologize for our experience. This had absolutely nothing to do with the chef. She took zero ownership of the situation and left us hanging. While all this was happening the waitress rushed to close our table out without providing a resolution. Overall this matter was poorly handled by the general manager, we just had higher expectations out of such a great restaurant.

    Xmas Eve Birthday celebration with my two daughters, all first timers here at Jane’s which was serving a special four course dinner. Wow, started off with great views of the marina, open kitchen and joint packed full of hungry guests at 6pm!! All I can say is the Jane’s staff execution of this event was absolutely impressive and outstanding in every way!! First hats off to the back da house gang sweating it out in the boiler room!!! All the dishes were Michelin Star fantastic, from the first course raw oyster appetizer, second course Asian style crispy shrimp salad, Hamachi Carpaccio, Mushroom/Chestnut Soup, main entrees of Seared Scallop with Risotto, Shrimp Scampi & Tagliatelle pasta and Surf&Turf Prime Fillet Mignon and Lobster Tail. Plus we ordered their signature Caviar with Fish Sticks which was loaded with sturgeon and ikura eggs in a delicious tartar sauce relish. But wait……the superb tasting dessert of a Chocolate Caramel Roll Cake with a birthday candle definitely deserves recognition for putting a smile on my face!! And of course kudos to the hard working floor folks including our wonderful server Grace and the hustling food runners ………every course came out in perfect timing, no long waits or pauses in between……a simply amazing performance considering every table in both dining rooms were full!! We will be back for sure…….seriously recommend Jane’s if you got a hot date or someone to impress…..Even the valet service is top notch!!

    Lack luster service, if even that. Came to celebrate a birthday and wasn’t acknowledged once. Service was poor and highly inattentive. Food was delicious. Sand dabs were lovely. Appreciate who I assume was a manager stepping in to assist with drink and wine ordering. However, for the price and atmosphere of a fine dining restaurant, service and hospitality were at a low. Will most likely not return.

    The food was very mediocre. The prices were high for low quality food. The mashed potatoes were gummy, and the fish was cold and the bread was burnt. They sat us out a table that didn’t have a server for 30 minutes. We requested a booth and they said that there have to be four people at a booth, but then sat two and three people at a booth and a half empty restaurant after we were seated.
