   Overall great food! I'm surprised the service wasn't to the level expected. For some reason my waiter was not the most attentive.

   I hate to do it but have to. This is the second time I have been and the food been almost inedible. I ordered the Delmonico eye medium well. The outside was burned and turned into shoe leather while the inside was bleeding red. I’m not even sure how they did that. The brussel sprouts had so much mustard and mustard seed covering them they were awful. The mushrooms were amazing and the baked Alaska was amazing. Service and ambience wonderful.

   Everything was delicious. I will definitely be back. I will recommend to others. The steak was juicy even days later.

   I made a reservation for a party of six through OpenTable a few days prior for an important business dinner. I booked 5:15.The day of I received a text message asking me to confirm my reservation for “tomorrow”. I replied no, because my reservation was for “today,” and it was canceled. I checked my OpenTable history and I had booked for the correct day, but made another reservation and had no issues. I checked in early and the hostess finally found my reservation. A couple of my guests waited at the bar for the full party to arrive. The hostess walked up to me and told me that I had no reservations and we would not be able to be seated. Mind you, this is in front of my guests. I explained to her what had happened. Showed her my canceled reservation, their incorrect text, and my second reservation. She walked away and said she’ll see what she could do. No apology. We were seated. If I was not hosting guests I would have immediately left. Our server was excellent as was the food. Unfortunately I will never set foot here again based on how I was treated and embarrassed in front of my guests. A high end establishment like this should understand how important all aspects of a dining experience are - that is part of the premium we pay.

    We had a wonderful experience at this historic restaurant. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and the staff made the celebration wonderful! All the food was fabulous. The service was phenomenal as well. Of course we had to try the ribeye steak because Delmonico's invented it (in 1850) and we also had to try the baked Alaska because Delmonico's invented that as well (in the early 1900's). We also tried the lobster Newberg (which I think they also invented). All of these were worth the try. The Brussel sprouts were awesome with a wonderful wasabi sauce, the french fries were perfect with a wonderful dipping sauce and the pureed potatoes were wonderful as well. Let's just say I would like the recipes for all their sauces (but I didn't buy the cookbook they were selling--maybe those recipes were in there?). The staff made our friend's birthday celebration memorable--we want to thank them for that! The next time we fly into New York we'll make it a point to eat at Delmonico's again. Make sure you have reservations if you want to go.
