DOPO, meaning 'after' in Italian, is an intimate dining experience in the lower level of Elizabeth Square on the corner of 34th Ave and 18th Street in Marda Loop, Calgary. Inspired by D.O.P, its predecessor restaurant, on Canada's Top 100 three years in a row, DOPO has been reimagined by Executive Chef, David Leeder and Owner, Tony Migliarese. With strong opinions from Mamma Rose, of course.

We knew we wanted to try Dopo in their new space, but the only reservation we could get was at 9:30 at the bar. This turned out to be the most wonderful thing! Anthony took incredible care of us, welcoming us with a contagious energy right from the start. He made a wine recommendation that we loved, followed by an overview of the menu and suggestions to make sure we were ordering enough (but not too much). It was perfectly coursed - pickled green tomatoes and whipped ricotta of our dreams with fresh bread (we could have gone home satisfied right then and there), a fresh Panzanella and hearty Polpette were next, and then we stopped at a pasta course of a ravioli the size of my face, and another dish with a combination of bone marrow, ox tail, and beef tongue that melt-in-your-mouth tender. Our bellies were full but we knew the night wouldn't be complete without their famous tiramisu. It was a much-anticipated evening out without our kids, and it was beyond our expectations. We can't wait to be back!

Overall AMAZING, the Dopo team are doing everything right, great people, great space, delicious food. Our new favourite! They have created a warm cozy space aglow with candlelight that makes you feel like you have been transported somewhere else, especially on a very cold and dark November evening.

Great new spot in the area. Menu is very authentically regional. Server was great. Good date night spot.

Great new space! As expected, the food was exceptional. Every dish we ordered was simple in ingredients but complex in flavour and perfectly balanced. We sat at the bar and were taken care of by Anthony. He is truly passionate about the food and his cocktails and he elevated a great dinner into incredible dining experience. We booked our next reservation in the car on our way home. Highly recommend!

Incredible food, service, and ambience. The quality and care that goes into the food is evident. Definitely worth it.

Comparing to other Italian offerings, value is low. Food is fine but not special. Noodles were pretty good. Proteins were not great.

Absolutely stunning and delicious food. The menu is small but every item is perfect. Amazing dishes for sharing so you can try a little of everything because it’s too hard to choose. The staff is incredible, attentive, knowledgeable, and fun. Only complaint is DOPO isn’t located in my own personal basement so I could go everyday. If you’re on the fence about going, get off the fence and book the table. You’ll only regret not going sooner.

Had an amazing experience! Our server was so knowledgeable and friendly, a bonus to how delicious the food was! We received excellent wine recommendations and had an amazing overall experience. Would never hesitate to spend my money here, there’s a reason this place is rated best food in Calgary.
