5 stars – Date Night Perfection (with one small hiccup) Took my fiancée to Drake’s Hollywood for a special date night and it did not disappoint. From the jump, the ambiance was on point — moody lighting, great energy, and a touch of glamour that really set the tone. The food? Absolutely fire. The chili garlic broccolini had the perfect bite, and the branzino was tender, flavorful, and plated beautifully. We ended the night with their cotton candy dessert — not just a sweet treat, but a full-on show that brought smiles all around. Only critique: our original table was right under a vent and it was freezing, so we had to ask to move. Luckily the staff was accommodating and handled it quickly. Overall, Drake’s is a vibe — a little luxe, a lot of flavor, and perfect for celebrating someone special.

Service: had to wait almost 30 min at the bar for my table. I went up to the hostess and she claimed someone else said they were me and took my table & she didn’t see me waiting. Our waitress didn’t ask if it was a special occasion. We were celebrating a birthday, nothing complimentary offered. I did end up ordering dessert to celebrate. It was not a good experience overall and they didn’t seem to care to make it better. Food: The pizza is phenomenal. I recommend the pasta za za as well. My steak was not prepared right so can’t say I recommend. Their chimichurri also was not the best. The broccolini is alright, drowned in butter.

We were so excited to try Drake’s and unfortunately we won’t be back. The atmosphere and food were amazing, but we felt completely rushed and unwelcome the entire meal. Upon seating us at our table, the hostess informed us we’d be limited to 90 minutes of dining (Open Table stated we get up to 2 hours for a party of 4). Then, the first words our server said to us was letting us know about our 90 minute time limit and that he’d be giving us “reminders.” I have never been continually reminded throughout a meal that I need to leave. Then, at our “30 minute reminder” we hadn’t even received our entrees. I have never been to a restaurant and felt so unwanted and unappreciated to be spending time and money there.

The food was decent—we really enjoyed the pizza and the crab cake. However, the service left a lot to be desired. Our waiter was cold, unhelpful, and made us feel rushed throughout the meal. There were multiple moments where we felt like we “weren’t ordering enough food,” which made the whole experience uncomfortable. Given how popular this restaurant is, we expected much better service. Unfortunately, it just didn’t live up to the hype.

This restaurant is not what it seems - it starts off with the feeling of a classy 1950's steak house, with period music, a nice menu, read leather booths - even a dress code! Well, that all shifts around 8 p.m. The clientele is not held to the dress code. In fact with the scantily clad women, men in sweat pants and all sort of things which are mentioned as "no-no's" on the dress code, it seems more like a tacky bar with gluttony abounding! The music switched over to hip-hop and the scene is nothing like what you are expecting from their website. Watch out for the valet parking. The only valet stand offers two options, which are not clearly explained: $20 if you want your car parked up front and $10 if you want it parked in the back. Seriously? This is the level of clientele that have to have their car showing up front? I have a very nice car and it was parked in the back. It was a birthday celebration for a dear widowed friend and we were not given a complimentary birthday cake which is customary in most restaurants. We did see that several other tables had cakes with sparklers which made us draw the conclusion that they were given birthday celebration cakes. We noted on the reservation this was a birthday celebration and told the server several times. The service was just okay. We were surprised to hear they did not serve cappuccino. I had a Coke Zero. When I asked for a refill, I was told there would be an extra charge. This is not usually the custom in Houston - refills are free. We ended up feeling like we had gone to a switch and bait, sleezy night club by the time we left. if you are expecting a lovely dining experience, be done by 7 p.m. This was a Monday night - I can't imagine what a weekend would be like. I wouldn't even try to come on a weekend. They also would not seat my friend until I got there, making her sit uncomfortably at the bar , while the restaurant was completely empty. Not the atmosphere or people we choose to dine with.
