   Lovely gallery, staff friendly. Food was lovely in bistro, highly recommend the soup of the day. Will definitely visit again.

   A disappointing 2nd visit to The Dukes. The main cafe area was cold and there was a delay in our food order that arrived more than 10 mins after our drinks. Apparently one chef down and admittedly busy, I feel greater customer care and understanding should have been shown in the circumstances.

   I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Dukes. The gallery on the way in is bright, warm and welcoming with so many different crafts to buy as well as paintings. The atmosphere in the cafe is very chilled, it is beautifully decorated and it’s dog friendly. I had a delicious brunch. I ordered the brunch bowl and a cappuccino which were both very tasty. The service was excellent and the menu had lots of options. Would highly recommend for a pre or post walk in this gorgeous area.

   I came for good food but hot veggie choices were off. They did make allowance and I had a veggie breakfast but that was not the evening meal I had expected

   Hi Tina I am sorry to hear that you were not happy with your meal last night. Unfortunately our head chef has been away on a family emergency and so we have been trying to make things work the best we can. We considered closing for the evening but we did not want to cancel all bookings and let customers down so we found a private chef to cover and stay open. Unfortunately as this was last minute and he did as much of the menu as he felt was possible. We had to remove 2 options from the menu (1 big plate and 1 small plate). We did however have the Veggie Burger, a Goat's Cheese Salad, Medley of Mushrooms, our soup. We offered to make amendments to other options for you and then brought over the brunch options and you ordered a veggie bowl with some additions. Best wishes Sophie

   Had an early meal here before going to a concert in the Village Hall opposite. Food was great but I was disappointed that some things on the menu weren’t available. There is no licence but we were allowed to take our own bottles for which a corkage was charged. Our ‘gig discount’ was not automatically applied… we will have to remember to ask for it next time we have a pre-gig meal!

   Good Morning Jan, I am so sad to see this 3 star review. We normally would have had specials, however, our head chef has been away on a family emergency and so we have been trying to make things work the best we can. Unfortunately as this was last minute he had to cook with what we had available and he felt that sticking to out menu worked best for him. With regards to the discount, I am sorry that is was not applied. There was also diners that were not attending the gig so this was not automatically applied to all bills. If you come in during the week I would be able to refund the 10%. Best wishes Sophie
