Didn’t enjoy my experience, the food standards wasn’t up to what I was expecting, sushi rolls were to soft and falling apart while trying to pick up and eat, my miso blackened cod was too soft and the crab bao buns were just mainly batter and not enough crab

The front door was stuck ajar for the whole meal and my dining partner was cold enough she was huddled under her winter coat. Food was great but the service was way too slow, sake ordered with the mains was delivered at the end of the meal as we were about to get the bill.

Unfortunately the outer door on to street could only be closed over 1/2 way due to some problem but meant we had a draft coming through all evening . Never really got a full explanation as to why or no great apology . Whilst the food was good they didn’t offer any low alcohol/ alcohol beer options

We had such a great evening at this restaurant! The food was fantastic - we shared a few small plates and everything was spot on, beautifully cooked and full of flavour. Their mocktails were also excellent. The service was genuinely lovely - Flavio, the manager, and the whole team went above and beyond to make our celebration special. There were four of us, and they really made it feel personal and fun. Couldn’t recommend it more - we’ll definitely be back!

I want to give special props to our waiter Alice. She was so sweet and super professional and hospitable with her service. The food as well was very delicious and me and my sister were in shock of how melt in your mouth the beef tataki, the seared truffle chūturo and the sashimi platter was. Highly recommend coming here.

FAQs

Midweek is a smart choice if you want a quieter, more relaxed meal, Tuesday to Thursday lunchtimes or early evenings tend to be less busy. If you’re after a livelier scene, try weekend dinner or their bottomless brunch. Many guests have enjoyed weekday lunches with colleagues and recommend booking ahead for weekend or special-event dining.

Yes, Edo Izakaya is a popular choice for a relaxed, stylish date night. Guests frequently praise the food, attentive service and a nice, chilled vibe that suits celebrations and anniversaries. Expect sushi, sharing plates and cocktails with a contemporary izakaya atmosphere. Note some guests have reported occasional loud music or a chilly spot near the front door, so consider booking an inside table or an earlier seating for a cozier experience.

Portions at Edo Izakaya tend to be generous and shareable, many guests mention large portion sizes and good value on the tasting menu. Expect a mix of small plates, sushi platters and larger mains, so sharing plates with friends is a good approach. A few guests noted the tasting menu can be plentiful for two people, so consider ordering a few dishes to share rather than one plate each.

Edo Izakaya is open for lunch and dinner most days: Monday–Friday 12:00–15:00 and 17:00–23:00, Saturday 12:00–23:00, and Sunday 12:00–22:30. These hours make it easy to visit for lunch, early dinner or a weekend evening, if you’re planning around a holiday or special event it’s best to call ahead or check their website for updates.

For a quieter experience, weekday lunches or early weekday evenings are your best bet. Edo Izakaya gets busy at weekends, during bottomless-brunch sessions and on special dates (guests reported it was fully booked on Valentine’s Day). If you prefer a lively night with a buzz, aim for weekend dinner or brunch; for a more relaxed meal, choose weekday lunchtime or an early evening booking.

Generally yes, families and groups with teenagers dine here and guests have celebrated birthdays with children. The menu focuses on sushi, small plates and larger sharing dishes rather than traditional ramen/soba, so there may not be a dedicated kids’ menu. For younger children, consider an early seating and call ahead to discuss menu flexibility or simple options the kitchen can provide.

Families do dine here and guests often celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, so the space works well for groups and family meals. The restaurant accepts larger parties but does not advertise private rooms. There’s limited public detail on formal accessibility features, so if you need wheelchair access or specific seating arrangements, call ahead, the team has a reputation for being helpful and accommodating.

Edo Izakaya offers casual indoor seating with tables suitable for couples, small groups and larger parties, guests have dined in groups of six and larger. The restaurant accepts large parties but doesn’t advertise private rooms, so communal or regular dining tables are the norm. Some guests noted variations in temperature by table (near the front door versus the back), so if you have seating preferences it’s best to request them when booking.

There’s no published information on a formal waiting list, but guests report the restaurant can be fully booked for special occasions (for example Valentine’s Day) and busy at brunch. Because popular times fill up, it’s best to reserve in advance; if you’re running late or want to check availability on the day, call the restaurant to ask about cancellations or a possible waitlist.

Edo Izakaya has a modern, casual izakaya vibe, relaxed and lively with contemporary décor. Many guests praise the pleasant atmosphere, neat room and ‘great vibe’, making it good for dates, celebrations and group dinners. A few guests have mentioned louder music or challenging acoustics at times, and some reported a draft from the front door in colder months, so consider timing and seating when you book.

Yes, it’s a good idea to call ahead with special requests. While the restaurant doesn’t publish a formal policy, guests frequently praise staff for going above and beyond (helping with celebrations and personalised service). For seating preferences, dietary requirements or celebration arrangements, contact the restaurant when you book so the team can accommodate you where possible.
