In the heart of Sugar House, El Cholo has been serving classic dishes and margaritas in a traditional setting since 1923. Reservations recommended.

We have complimentary parking behind our restaurant. Free street parking is plentiful. Also, AFTER 5:30PM we have secured the lot next door at the Kimball Office Complex at 2178 South 900 East.

This was our first time here and we were very happy with our whole experience. The food was delicious and the service was great. We will absolutely be coming back and telling others!

Great casual Mexican restaurant. Margarita was very good, portions were generous, service was excellent, ample parking

another good experience at El Chollo. Vanessa our server, though a trainee was excellent - timely, attentive but not insertive, food came quickly and was well prepared and presented well; prices are reasonable though a little pricey but what isn't anymore. Noise was a little more than usual but restaurant was busy and still Vanessa was attentive! We'll be back.

Just like El Cholo in LA. Service was great. Food was fantastic. Still thrilled to have my favorite Mexican restaurant from LA in Salt Lake.

Not only is the food amazing, but the environment at El Cholo really makes it special. Enjoyed El Cholo. Chips and salsa are some of ours favorite. The food we all had was good, though came out somewhat slower than expected. We enjoyed the restaurant, though we wish it would be closer to us in Utah County. Hope there is one there in the future. We will be back!

Our server, Rocky, had a great personality! And the manager was awesome, though I didn't catch her name. She helped me find the name of the company that makes the gorgeous mugs they use for their tableside hot chocolate and I've got my own set ordered! We enjoyed our 2nd visit almost as much as our first (the first time is always a little hard to top, isn't it?) - we really liked the upstairs ambiance the first time we visited but it wasn't open on our 2nd visit. I think the first floor gets a little louder and hearing-challenges were a bit more noticable. We WILL be back and can't wait for Green Corn Tamales this summer!!
