About this restaurant

  • Great for scenic views
  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for creative cocktails
Nestled high above LoHi on the fifth floor of 2930 Umatilla, El Five boasts spectacular, unobstructed views of the downtown Denver skyline. The menu is an homage to the Mediterranean and features small plates built on bold flavors found throughout the region: Spain, North Africa, the Middle East.

Inside, the space is understated and sensual, flanked by a large, open-air patio for sun-kissed Colorado nights. As the newest restaurant in the Edible Beats family, El Five celebrates the confluence of flavors, ideas and geographies made possible by a subtle shift in perspective.

Loved El Five. Food was delicious. Ambience was great. Portions are small so you will have to order several to share. Seafood paella was so good. Views were great. Definitely will return. It was hoping and busy but had good energy. Decor was nice and had a playful vibe. It isn’t super visible while driving around if you unfamiliar with the area. It’s tucked away on the 5th floor of a building. One elevator up and it was so busy so prepare to take the stairs if you are able, it will save you some time. We didn’t see the vallet option ($15)so we parked in a lot in front of little man ice cream and walked around. Now that I know where to go, next time will be a lot easier to navigate. It is right behind their other restaurant, Linger.

Sat at the bar while waiting for our table and was disappointed. Bartenders were unfriendly and forgot to put our appetizer order in. Managers were awesome and made it right but sometimes you just want it right the first time

Huge disappointment; would be forgettable if not for ambiance and location. That is NOT paella; patatas bravas did not have chorizo- it has tasteless chorizo dust. If this was on street level would prob be out of business. $44 and $49 for a half order of “paella” with hardly any rice. Proportions of meat to rice completely reversed. One and done for this hugely disappointing meal. All 4 of us feel the same. Oh chicken croquettes were burned and just about tasteless. Service was outstanding.

Had a hair in one of the entrees / tapas dishes. Still was a good dining experience.

Suuuuuuper average food. Papas, shrimp, paella, pork cheek could take or leave. Matzo ball soup dumping was really good and so was crème brûlé? dessert. Cocktails and service were excellent.

I’m not from Denver so this was my first visit. Our waitress was excellent which made the evening enjoyable. The food was good but not great. It was quite expensive relatively speaking. I’m not sure I’d go back next time I’m here. Supposedly there is a view but we never saw it because of our table location which was not optimal (despite reservation). It’s worth a try as clearly it was packed so I may be in the minority. My grade is a B which is still good but definitely not great.

Nothing short of amazing!! We enjoyed the chefs counter beyond any expectations. I am vegan and gluten free, which some restaurants find difficult to accommodate. Brian delivered in a fashion I have not seen. He was a lot of fun and explained in detail exactly what ingredients were in each of our dishes. Every bite was exquisite!! Even coming up with an off the cuff vegan/gluten free dessert. The dish he created was just divine. Justin, our waiter was attentive and eager to please and ensure all our dining pleasure was met. The ambience was delightful. We felt completely pampered. We will be back!!
