Ellis Square Social is a neighborhood restaurant and craft cocktail bar located in historic Ellis Square, in the heart of downtown Beverly. Our Depression era building features a bustling dining room, with an authentic tin ceiling, reclaimed wood floor, period lighting, and tufted banquette, providing a warm and comfortable space for an evening out. Casual diners have the choice to seat at our beautiful cast pewter bar for a classic cocktail or craft beer as well as high tops around the bar and counter seating on the window overlooking Cabot Street. At Ellis Square Social, we believe in serving an outstanding home-made product in a sustainable and responsible way, while helping the local economy by buying from local producers.

We arrived on time for our reservation, however had to wait to be seated. Although our server (bartender) was very pleasant, it took SO long to get our food, we were late getting to the show we were going to at the Cabot theater. We realize that the restaurant was busy, but we waited at least 45 min for our food. Luckily we only ordered wine & entrees as had we ordered cocktails and/or apps, we would have been even later! Not a good experience!

The service and food were terrific, but the noise level was such that it was difficult to hear.

We had fabulous cocktails and a great meal. The staff were quite helpful, friendly, and efficient. We were surprised and a bit humbled to learn that the gentleman sitting next to us, who had engaged us in conversation, paid for our dinner! He and his wife left before us to go to a concert nearby. It was so sweet! We will pay it forward!

Great food and great bartender.. We sat at the bar (obviously) .. She made perfect drinks and was attentive but not overbearing. Great night Thanks!!

Overall experience was good. It was a relatively quiet evening but the cocktails, food and service were all satisfactory.

Went with a group of friends for our book club dinner. The ambience was really nice and the noise level was low for our conversation making it perfect for a special night out on a date or with friends. Best of all, the food was absolutely delicious and plentiful! I had the pan seared chicken with smoked carrot risotto and others had the salmon. Everyone loved their meal and all agreed that we would love to return!

Excellent service, good, drinks and ambience. One of my top date night picks. Also fun for splitting an app with a friend at the bar. Top notch. With highly professional staff.

We were excited to enjoy ESS before a show at The Cabot. The service was good, although they seem to be VERY understaffed. The menu is somewhat limited so we were hopeful that the dishes would be sublime. Instead, our meals were bland in taste although gorgeous in presentation (we ordered 4 different meals and all 4 of us agreed: beautiful but bland). We’ll go back, and hope the crispy duck wings we once had there as a special make it onto the menu as a regular feature!
