Owned and operated by John Crook and his partner Erik Heck, The Flying Pig Yaletown is referred to as a nouveau Canadian bistro in the community for its fresh, local ingredients and quality food. The restaurant opened for business in August 2011 and is known for its contemporary Canadian and seafood specials. It has a nice décor comprising of a combination of dark and light colored wooden furniture, along with brick style and white painted walls. The ambiance is casual and welcoming, and customers prefer to have brunch, lunch and dinner here.

The Flying Pig Yaletown has separate menus for dinner, lunch, brunch and happy hour. There is also a wine & beverage list featuring different types of drinks from the restaurant's full bar. The Flying Pig Yaletown has a private room reserved for small gatherings and special events, which can accommodate up to 28 people.

We waited more than 1hr to get our main course (3 course Valentines Day special) and we had our 5 yr old with us and was told only high table (bar like chairs) available for our previously reservation table. But for the 2hrs we stayed the normal height table were never completely full. Why? We demand management’s response for this.

Overall excellent. Went for dine out. The dessert was to die for will go back again.

Disappointed in the food. Service was good, Grant went above and beyond to try to make the food issue work.

We came on a Monday to try the dining out menu. I was not very hungry so I just ordered meatballs. They were excellent. Large portion (4 meatballs) in a delicious tomato sauce. Came with 2 large pieces of focaccia. For dining out, my husband had the beet salad which was excellent and the veal parm. We both loved the veal (so much that we will have to make it back to have again before dining out is over - wish this was a regular menu item). The pudding was the only miss for us. Very sweet and just not our taste. Service was excellent. I would describe the ambience as friendly and cozy. Flying Pig is a great midrange option in Yaletown for quality eats.
