    Food was amazing and staff was very friendly and helpful! Not our first time there and will not be our last 😁 love it!

    Sadly on arrival front of house were not that attentive . We were then put in the corner next to a cold window, added to the fact of the main house door was constantly being opened as people came in and out… looking for a table to dine in that wasn’t available….!! It was cold in the restaurant and that spoilt our experience. Food was good, but we wouldn’t return.

    A lovely bistroesque venue, great ambience with lovely service. What I liked was the small menu but the quality of the food was very high.

    Absolutely delicious as always. The trio of Yorkshire puddings were so good. My friends had fish finger sandwich and fish and chips and were very impressed. It was a birthday treat for me so the waitress brought me a piece of coffee cake with a candle and everyone sang happy birthday.

    Had my sons birthday there they were so helpful and made it so nice for him . A great family run business.

    Whenever I go to York, I always try to plan in a meal at Forest. I’ve been four times now and each time has been lovely. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious. Plus the restaurant is dog friendly for those who have dogs. I also think the prices are very reasonable being in York city centre. Would definitely recommend!

    Simple but delicious food. The steak and burger were perfectly cooked. The service was great.

    Warm welcome and efficient and friendly service. We had a lovely sharing starter of warm oozy camembert with bread and chutney. Then who could resist the full Yorkshire roast beef with Yorkshire pudding on Yorkshire pudding day (who knew?). Lashings of gravy, and trimmings including cauliflower cheese. Thank you Forest team. Will definitely be back.

    Great place,had the steak was a little tough to be honest and the chips weren’t chips they where sliced potatoes with the skin on. My partner had fish and chips the fish was great again the chips were not chips and the tarta sauce was very runny. Nice staff
