Good , imaginative choice of food , generous portions ,!all at very reasonable prices. Service was friendly and relaxed.

Absolutely appalling service!! We were seated and not asked if we would like any drinks. After 15 minutes we asked them if they would be able to get us a tea and a coffee. We then watched lots of other people get seated and then the waiter proceeded to take their food orders when we had been waiting half an hour and also booked in. There was a waitress with pink hair, wearing a hoodie who really didn't look the part, we asked her for 2 pints of lager and we didn't get them, again after 15 minutes of waiting we asked her again for them and they were eventually brought by someone else. Another waitress was really smart, smiling and ideal, unfortunately the young girl was not suited to the position and certainly wasn't dressed appropriately at all.

We visited for the star gazing menu on 17 November, we were seated in the beautiful courtyard with hot water bottles and blankets. Such a pretty setting. Over 2 hours we were presented with a grazing menu, all of which was beautifully presented and very tasty. The only fault I would give is that we weren’t asked if we wanted any drinks during the courses and we had to request water. The beef brisket and Yorkshire puddings were cooked well but the gravy lacked umami, I’ve tasted better at our local Sambucca restaurant. Overall all, a beautiful ambience and overall lovely food, we would definitely visit again.

This was a beautiful place with amazing food and great service. Only one suggestion for improvement, bigger tables please!!!

Good service. Lovely staff, nice atmosphere. My main meal was a little underwhelming, I would say it’s gastropub food with a restaurant ambience. Good gluten-free choices though which I often struggle to find.

An excellent restaurant, the best I've eaten at in York by far! Professional knowledgeable waiters and fabulous food.....

Fantastic food, attentive service. We had the added complication of having a 1 year old to entertain which the staff placed us in a great little corner so that she didn’t disturb the rest of the customers (too much…). 3 courses and drinks for around £80 for two, a great price considering the quality. Would definitely go again and recommend to others.
