Hello there!

Forthright is a cafe with a leafy patio just south of Cesar Chavez and Brazos; between The Line hotel and the Four Seasons hotel: a quiet cul-de-sac by Ladybird Lake where the street ends. We offer surface parking on the east and west side of the building on a first come first serve basis.

We make honest food from scratch, prepared well, using quality ingredients. In the morning we pour locally sourced Tiny House roasters coffee, we also offer a full-bar with drink specials to kick off your brunch! Enjoy avocado toast with poached eggs, the best French Toast you have ever experienced, or pastrami hash and chicken and waffles for brunch. We are here to serve all of your brunch needs.

Tall windows, natural light, a comfortable patio, plenty of shade... a place for a small brunch with friends or a celebration. We’re from here, we felt like downtown Austin deserved something ‘easy’ again.

I had a very disappointing experience at Forthright Café yesterday. I had a reservation at 12:45 PM, and while I understand the café closes at 1:30 PM, I was shocked by the rude treatment I received. From the moment I walked in, the man at the front was unwelcoming and made it clear he didn’t want to be there. To make matters worse, I was informed that the kitchen was already closed for the day. First, I was told the fryers were down due to maintenance, then another employee claimed the entire kitchen was closed. It was very confusing, and it felt like they were more focused on leaving early than providing good service. I was told I could order something only if I did so immediately upon sitting down, which felt rushed and unprofessional. I had been looking forward to trying this place, but the dismissive attitude and lack of care from the staff completely ruined the experience. I wouldn’t recommend this café to anyone based on the rude behavior of the employees and their disregard for customer service. Save your time and go somewhere that actually values its customers.

The service was far less than what I expected. The server made a big mistake, but sadly no effort was made to make things right

Everything was meh, except for the Bloody Mary, that was great. The service felt rushed and the food was just okay and one of my eggs was over cooked.

This place had great reviews and a decent looking menu so some friends and I met up for Sunday brunch. Menu was promising, coffee was good with lots of options. I appreciated that it wasn't super loud and busy. Felt like a nice little cafe. Service was pretty good, no complaints there. The food however was lacking a bit. It looked good but it was just really bland. I got Migas and it was basically scrambled eggs with mild verde sauce on top. with some soggy tortilla chips. There was no flavor. We're in Austin guys, if you're going to have Migas on the menu, they need to be legit. There are 1000 other restaurants with really good Migas. I would go back, but wouldn't order anything that was Mexican inspired because it just missed the mark.

This is a cute, cozy little place, with great food for a reasonable price! highly recommend for a nice, early breakfast. will definitely return!

I love Forthright for the fresh ingredients they use without too much salt or sugar. I got the quinoa bowl. It was cold outside so I asked to have sautéed greens instead of cold salad greens. It was so delicious. And I had it topped with a poached egg. My tummy was happy the rest of the day! I also had warmed house made cashew milk. My husband had mushroom toast and a matcha latte with cashew milk. We had not been to Forthright since before the pandemic. We were missing it so much and we are so glad it is still around!!

Incredible place that a wait is worth for. High quality ingredients, great service, unique menu. I have been thinking about the chicken and waffles since we left. Can’t wait to come back
