In 1974, George and his wife Joan ventured out to what was then considered the country. They found the perfect location on the shores of Diamond Lake. A great deal has changed since then, but our commitment to service and great food hasn’t. We welcome you to visit and see what’s new. It’s the Gale Street you love and remember with a more comfortable and updated atmosphere. Come for your favorite dishes prepared by our award-winning chef and stay for the sunset, a good cocktail, and many more memories to be made.

VALENTINES DAY RUINED. We were completely calm the entire night so restaurant likely doesn’t remember or care, but our waitress forgot to put our entree orders in and we waited over an hour before food arrived. She explained there was a “slight hiccup” and then gave a reason that didn’t make sense. But we understood it’s the busiest night of the year and we have hearts. When the food finally did arrive, one of the entrees was wrong. So we waited AGAIN for the correct entree. At this point the restaurant was almost empty. Most upsetting was after waiting m90 mins for food, while everyone around us was taken care of, when the manager came and asked how the meal was and we told him about the wait and the wrong food, instead of offering a complimentary dessert or even saying sorry, he said “I know, come back again and we’ll take better care of you, give us another chance”. I heard Gale Street inn was supposed to be famous but apparently the service standard is left to be desired. We felt like second class citizens. Ive never tipped less than 20% my entire life and for the first time ever gave 15%. We just moved from downtown Chicago and I was hoping this was going to become a regular restaurant that could replace our usual River North steakhouses. But why would we ever give them another chance? To Gale Street Inn, Please do better the next time you ruin a customers special night.

Booked a reservation a week ahead of Valentines Day. Service was horrible in a sense of non existent. Food was generally good except that it was obvious that the lobster ravioli had spent a long time under a heat lamp. Appetizers sat unbussed on the table the entire meal. Waiter apologized at the end when he dropped the check explaining that he is a busboy and doesn’t typically serve tables. If you are unable to staff for a full house close.

For Valentine’s Day, the restaurant was overcrowded and understaffed. Our we sat outside of the bar and our server not only did the tables but he was also tending the bar. Three different couples ended up waking out due to lack of service. The food took too long to come out so we had to immediately get to-go containers because we had a prior commitment. My wife got the ravioli which was undercooked (the edges were rock hard).

restaurant was packed as it was Valentine Day dining. The food was served warm, and I surprised at the portions as they were quite substantial. That being said - it made for a great value. The meal was served promptly and the wait staff stressed due to the volume of diners was still pleasant and checked with us on several occasions. great taste, great value, great service

Always good food; and a good environment. However over the last year or so, service is really slow. It took 15 minutes to get a drink, 20 minutes for an appetizer, and one hour 30 minutes in total

We love the salmon piccata. Roast beef is a menu regular and is very good.

Great meal and we loved sitting by the fireplace! We had a nice family time - although the noise level is high, could use some noise absorbing so you can hear your own table conversation.
