The Garrison House, in the heart of Brookline Village, blends innovative American cuisine with a lively and social bar focusing on modern craft beer and cocktails. It features the area's only mug club, with members' personalized mugs hanging prominently behind the historic bar. The server we had was incompetent which made the experience, candidly, terrible. We were the very first table in the restaurant--at 11:30 am for brunch--and one of the last to get served. The server forgot to bring milk for our coffee. She forgot to bring spoons so we could stir our coffee. She put in a salmon instead of traditional eggs benedict that I ordered--then after alerting her that it was wrong, she failed to expedite the order so that I could at least eat while my friend was also enjoying her breakfast. I asked for the eggs to be firm, not runny. They were runny. So, then she asked me if I wanted to have boiled eggs instead because the kitchen couldn't make the yolks "not runny"? Really? You would think after such a rough start, she would check on our table a little more frequently, but no! Finally, after an incredibly unacceptable amount of time, the "manager" brought my food out, but had previously taken away my fork with the incorrect meal. I had to grab silverware from a nearby table because no one came back to check on us. The food itself was mediocre. Then--after all that--we waited at least 20 minutes to get the check. Meanwhile the server was hanging in the kitchen door area, chit chatting with the manager, no less. They were all so laissez faire, apologizing, but not doing anything to improve our experience. I am a longtime Brookline resident. I will never go back there. I will never recommend it.

I told my server I have a nut allergy and she asked me if cross contamination was ok. Ummmm….. no. Should have left after that.

This is such a cozy spot. Always have a great time! ONLY complaint is sometimes they are missing food items/drinks... they just don't update their menu quickly enough. Still totally worth going for brunch, dinner, or drinks.

This is the third year we've had our small office holiday party at Garrison's and it's always a very positive experience! Highly recommend! The food, drinks, and service were all first-rate!

They have updated their menu and done a great job elevating pub food dishes. Definitely check them out.

They had an off morning at brunch today. We have been here before and it was good, but today was not ideal. The waiter was pleasant but overwhelmed by the number of tables he was looking after. They did not have hot tea at brunch! Or cream or half and half for coffee. Twice we were served lukewarm coffee. Our order of chicken and waffles had a cold waffle. We asked for it to be heated and 10 minutes later it was returned with near burned fried chicken …and a cold waffle. Inedible. The manager was very apologetic and removed the chicken and waffle from the bill. Mistakes happen but I sure hope they get their kitchen and service team together.

They add 4% to the bill as a Hospitality Admin Fee. Not disclosed until you get the bill. When we asked what it was for, the server told us it was to smooth out if price of cucumbers went up. This is the most ridiculous rationalization I have ever heard. This is simply abusing your customers on price hoping they wont notice. The food and service were actually pretty good. BE AWARE and review your bill.

Excellent spot with several solid dishes to choose from. Quiet with a good ambiance for a weekend brunch or a dinner night.
