   Absolutely terrible! We knew about the set menus, but what we didn’t work out was that we had to both have the same set menu -so my partner couldn’t eat most of what was provided. For a valentine’s special (when they can expect parties of two) this is really inflexible, Then, the food just didn’t t arrive. In the end we took two of the three courses as takeaway, and still didn’t get home until after 11:30. I know the staff were trying, but it just wasn’t adequate,

   I love Gars, but eating out on Valentine's Day (not celebrating it, just meeting a friend) and being given no other option than to choose one of their set Valentine's menus, is a poor decision of theirs. Not only are the menus expensive, neither of us felt that they offered value for money as the portions were very small. Overall we had a lovely evening, just a little disappointed with the menu options, we would have preferred to have more choice.

   Not good value for money .we chose the most expensive set meal for 3 .very obviously it was for 2 .items have been removed from the starter . Very disappointed, over price for a under performance meal .

   Food was generally good, service a bit short had to ask for a few things repeatedly and they had limited cocktail range which then became more limited as lime juice ran out. Okay overall

   Great location in the Lanes. Booked on line (recommended) but very disappointed with the experience. In fairness the venue had a large party upstairs and the restaurant was busy throughout my stay. The problem appeared to be the amount of delivery food that was being prepared. This meant the kitchen was over busy and as a result the time it took the food to arrive was far too long. I was in the restaurant for two and a half hours for a three course meal. I dined on my own. Service was poor - table not laid and soup served with no crackers and became a problem when I requested some. They never arrived. Poor experience.

   Busy New Years eve , we didn't know it was set menu only , but there was a good choice . Food was excellent, service was good considering how busy they were

    We come here each year for NYE and at various times throughout the year, we look forward to it so much as it’s always great. Unfortunately this year without any prior notice when booking or arrival, they changed it to a ‘set menu’ evening - very disappointing. Always enjoyed it as it was one of the only few that has a normal menu on, such a shame they’ve decided to follow the crowd and not be that stand out restaurant many love. :o(
