Gazala’s Restaurant is the creation of Chef/Owner Gazala Halabi, who celebrates her culinary heritage as an Israeli Druze. Hospitality is a Druze hallmark—guests are embraced and welcomed with a flavorful meal. Says Gazala, “I want my restaurant to be a place to eat Druze food, to sample Druze culture and be treated like family. It is a little slice of my village on Amsterdam Avenue."

As a person of Middle Eastern descent, I can attest to the quality of the food here. Super fresh, tasty, and like many others I noticed that the prices seem a tad high — but it’s 2024 in NYC, so what do you expect? Also, service is kind and efficient and the noise level is low enough for normal conversation.

Everything we ordered was very flavorful. The shawarma hummus was amazing. The chicken was extremely moist. Portion sizes were very generous, so share an entree or be prepared to have extra to take home.

What a gem in NYC! Great food, fun atmosphere, delicious drinks. It is loud so not a place to go if you're looking for quiet conversation. Staff is friendly. Highly recommend!

You wouldn't think this would be a place that can make an excellent martini but it is! My friend ordered one of their specialty cocktails and was very satisfied. The service is fast and friendly, the place is not glamorous but pleasant and cozy nonetheless. The hummus was excellent; instead of the usual pita bread, they had this thin stretchy wrap like you'd get at an Indian restaurant. I liked the "Meat Cigar" appetizers but wish they weren't so small. I had to order it twice to get a decent portion. The lamb kabab entree was satisfying but not top-notch. It could have had more flavor and been more moist, it was perhaps a little overcooked. But my friend was vert happy with his entree. We skipped desert so I look forward to my next visit to try one—they all sounded great— along with their Turkish coffee, another thing that's hard to come by even at Middle Eastern restaurants like this one.

Food in really mediocre and can not justify spending $80 for an appetizer and a main course and a lousy margarita

Excellent food and service, but we plate outside and Amsterdam Ave. got pretty noisy at times with the ambulances going past. Otherwise great place and plan on returning

Yuck! In one word… The food here isn’t good. The hummus had zero flavor, the chicken kabob wasn’t on a kabob or didn’t resemble any chicken kabob one would like to eat. They rice is grey brown in color and basically tasted like dishwater. The service was not good either. It’s fair to say we won’t be returning.
