Gene and Georgetti is Chicago's original steakhouse since 1941. This family-owned establishment housed in Chicago's third oldest building serves the finest prime-aged steaks and chops, pastas, & signature dishes invented here such as The Garbage Salad and Chicken alla Joe. Our curated wine list originates from our roots in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy - we concentrate on Italian varietals that complement our classic Italian steakhouse menu.

Securely processed credit card info is required to secure a reservation. No-shows or cancellations within 48 hrs will be charged $25 pp.
As a reminder we do have a 15 minute grace period to honor your reservation, past that time your reservation will be forfeit.

Valet parking after 3pm is $15 cash.

Our dress code is Smart Business/Cocktail Chic - you never know who you might see at G & G!

    We originally came to have prime rib but at an 8pm reservation, they were sold out. Disappointing but decided to stay. Ordered garbage salad, chicken parm, salmon vesuvio, creamed spinach, onion rings, tiramisu, spumoni, cocktails/drinks. Dirty martini was visibly dirty and very good. Gingerbread espresso martini was difficult to identify as having a gingerbread taste. Garbage salad featured a single shrimp, which when split for 2 people didn’t really make sense. Chicken parm was lukewarm and not memorable. Onion rings were good (slightly under seasoned) and would order again. Spumoni was a highlight, although it tasted like vanilla was used in lieu of coconut. Strawberry and pistachio layers were particularly flavorful, making this a top ice cream (or gelato) dish of the year.

    Food was excellent, but the ‘Spumoni’ was Neapolitan, which was disappointing for a Chicago classic. The sound system was also not great quality (sounded tinny) and looped the same cliche Sinatra soundtrack multiple times during the 2 hours we were dining.

    Amazing! Steak initially came out med rare and server recognized error right away. Wisked it back to kitchen and returned with a fabulous rare as initial ordered. Multiple staff came back to check and apologize. Amazing service. All other dishes fantastic. Salmon, shrimp cocktail, mussels, pasta sides, spumoni, wine. We will be back.

    Another wonderful meal at Gene and Georgetti! This restaurant is consistently fantastic every time we’ve dined there over the last 20 years. The wait staff and hosts are always warm and helpful and professional. I have always loved the old school ambience and the menu. With all the steak house options in Chicago, this has always been my go-to. The food is delicious and the wine selection and cocktails are similarly wonderful.

    Maybe it was the holidays but service was horrible. We were a party of six and one meal was served 15 minutes after the others. When a complaint was made to management, there was no concern. The service was so slow dinner lasted over three hours. Quality of food way down too

    We had a delightful family celebration! Food, ambiance and service were all wonderful. Gene and Georgetti is steeped in history and truly reflects the elegance and warmth of a Chicago from days past! It never disappoints!
