This venue is excellent, there were 3 of us. We had the lamb, trout and shepherds pie all cooked to perfection. The only downfall was the wait which was nearly an hour. Which was the reason for losing one star. We didn’t have starters but did order coffees and because we were chatting it was a while before we realised how long we had waited. However it was worth the wait.

My girlfriend and I are repeat visitors to The George. The welcome, the food and the ambience all combine to make this one of our regular meeting places. We like the variety of dishes on their menu which cover all bases. The landlord and his staff always go the extra step which so many other local competing venues won't do.

Poor service generally. Food didn’t arrive together so some got cold. Mistakes with bill. Etc etc It’s a shame, if they get the service right, the meal would have been great.

The food was absolutely delicious, great presentation, good portion size and wonderful flavours. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the pub is beautiful inside. Will definitely return.

Having booked a table for 6.30 we arrived on time and were shown to our table by a lovely polite young man. We ordered 2 drinks and waited....and waited....and waited half an hour later we asked where our drinks were. We were told there was a leak behind the bar. Well what they should have done was told us this half an hour earlier and maybe offered a jug of water from the kitchen. During this time the 2 other tables who had been there before us had still not been served any food. We decided to 'abandon ship' and went elsewhere. Just keep your customers informed.......simples

Food excellent, service good friendly .cosy corner table in the bar but did ask for restaurant when booking but it was ok . Definitely would recommend.

Food was excellent - very fresh and tasty and reasonably priced. Took a while to find gluten free options on the Sunday menu.

Wow. 1st visit and we were amazed at how good the food is. We have found a gem. The service was superb and all the staff seemed happy to be there.
