   A little disappointed with the pies and vegetables. The broccoli had gone yellow in parts and the meat was not brilliant in the pies. Just a few tweaks to bring the food up to scratch, we had Sunday lunch here before and had to send back parsnips as not cooked. The venue and staff are brilliant, please bring the food up to top notch.

   Food was very good, staff were friendly but forgot our coffees at the end hence not quite five stars. Too expensive would be my biggest criticism and car park is a bit tight for bigger cars.

   I was not impressed on arrival, to be asked to eat in the bar. I explained that booking weeks in advance should guarantee a table in the restaurant. A girl reluctantly went to check if there was a spare & not surprisingly, there was! The food was good, along with the service. However, each time my friend and I visit the staff have changed. It is definitely not the place it once was.

   We visited to try out some of the recently changed dishes on the menu. Seating in the bar area is flexible and less formal than the dining area. Service is prompt but not over-bearing and all very efficient. Time for the food to arrive is good and portions adequate.

   This venue is excellent, there were 3 of us. We had the lamb, trout and shepherds pie all cooked to perfection. The only downfall was the wait which was nearly an hour. Which was the reason for losing one star. We didn’t have starters but did order coffees and because we were chatting it was a while before we realised how long we had waited. However it was worth the wait.

   My girlfriend and I are repeat visitors to The George. The welcome, the food and the ambience all combine to make this one of our regular meeting places. We like the variety of dishes on their menu which cover all bases. The landlord and his staff always go the extra step which so many other local competing venues won't do.

   Poor service generally. Food didn’t arrive together so some got cold. Mistakes with bill. Etc etc It’s a shame, if they get the service right, the meal would have been great.

    The food was absolutely delicious, great presentation, good portion size and wonderful flavours. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the pub is beautiful inside. Will definitely return.
