Yesterday was a sad day in Merrick New York as it was the last day of a well loved family restaurant. Grillfire closed its doors last night following several years of enjoying a reputation of a place to go with friends and family and feel welcome and enjoy good (great actually) food and drink. Last night was no exception. The place was packed !! It will be missed. I am glad the other George Martin restaurants in the area remain open!!!

Filet mignon & sides were excellent- as usual. Martinis (3 varieties) were excellent. Server was friendly & followed up regularly. Prices were competitive. Heartbroken that dining at Grillfire- attached to countless friends’ & family memories- will no longer be an option…

Everything was wonderful. Delicious food, wonderful service, all around great… and sad that tonight is their last night. The end of an era ❤️

This restaurant always has great food. It is a shame it is closing. The pretzels are yummy. All the apps were delicious and the ribs were amazing. Even though it is their second to last day, everything was available (except for a few desserts). The service was still excellent.

So sad they are closing. We have been coming here for 20 years. It's such a a shame they have to close. Their food service and ambiance was great.

Knowing that George Martin Grillfire is closing this week, we decided to take the family one more time - from age 2.5 to almost 88, 9 people (unfortunately, one person, our son-in-law could not make it). We have gone there many times. As another guest said, it is/was our Cheers. As with prior meals, it was excellent!! The food, the service, the atmosphere, all a 10!! From the hot pretzels when we sat down to the cotton candy at the end. Grillfire has been a family go to since it opened ( as was Nick D’Angelos the predecessor GM restaurant at the site). Management and staff were there in force making sure that everyone was enjoying. I can’t say enough about this place. Its closure will be a major loss to Merrick and the neighboring communities. Thank you George, Frank, Liz, Lauren, Gia, and the entire staff for many years of great food and many great memories. Wednesday is the last day (yes my wife and I are going to go one more time). GM Grillfire will be missed!!

We are soooo very sorry that Grillfire is closing. It has been a favorite restaurant of ours for 30 years 🥲.

My mom and I love this place. It’s sad that they are closing their doors on 1/15. Staff was lovely, food was great. Will miss this place!

Really sad to see this great restaurant is closing. Over many years, We enjoyed meeting the numerous people who waited on us. The management team Liz and Sarah, etc. were personable professional in their way of greeting us, and checking up on how We were enjoying our meal. We will miss this restaurant.
