Le restaurant Gertrude's, situé à l'intérieur du Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA), est l'endroit où John Shields met à l'honneur la cuisine de Chesapeake en utilisant des aliments locaux, dans un cadre chaleureux et élégant. My good friend and I met at Gertrude’s for a Friday evening dinner. The overall ambiance was pleasant and inviting. The server, and older gentleman, was not exactly the friendliest person in the place, but I noticed how he warmed up to the folks at the adjacent table. Nevertheless, I felt rushed into making drink and meals decisions but the last seating was literally an hour later. My friend and I both had a cup of pea soup which was fine, albeit grainy. We shared a cauliflower dish that was also okay. My friend ordered pork tenderloin with mashed sweet potatoes which he barely touched. He’s a nice guy, so he didn’t complain. I had the shrimp salad - overcooked shrimp with little flavor. I used to patronize Gertrude’s from time to time over years past, but there are a considerable number of other places to check out for better food and service.

Promptly seated upon arrival. Excellent service as usual. Tasty salads, burger and chicken. Always enjoy our meal here.

Beautiful dining room. We sat at a banquet padded bench cozy spot in the back. The food was delicious and the service was great. It's little but pricey but not too bad for what you get.

It was a lovely first time experiencing Gertrude’s after the Candlelight Concert featuring the Best of Bridgerton on Strings in the Meyerhoff Auditorium at BMA. When I saw the white tablecloth, I knew it would be a fine dining experience. Alex T provided the right number of check-ins and gladly answered our questions about the menu choices. Our menu choices; Red crab soup Boardwalk Crab cake platter Steak Frites It was all cooked to perfection and yummy. I learned Gertrude’s does Sunday and alfresco dining during the warmer weather. I’ll be back.

Disappointing food-uninspired and not that tasty. I chose a trout, which was somewhat dry, just placed on a bed of plain rice with plain broccoli on the side. Nothing special or imaginative or particularly good. One of our party’s choice of entree was so bad, the vegan gumbo, she could only eat half and didn’t bother to take the rest home. We asked several different wait staff a question about one appetizer food item, and it was never answered until the very end of the meal. Nothing egregiously wrong overall except the food was just so uninspiring and not tasty.
