With a name that means "cozy or nice atmosphere, but also belonging and general togetherness," gezellig invites guests to experience an elegant menu of local, seasonal cuisine using french techniques in a casual and welcoming environment. Located in Ottawa, Ontario, gezellig prepares each menu item using high-quality ingredients purchased locally. On the menu are items such as seared scallops, braised beef shortibs, potato gnocchi, beef tartare, duck breast, and wild-caught lingcod. Our classic butterfinger for dessert is a staple that has been on our menu since opening in 2012

                                                        I strongly recommend this place, especially if you want to catch up with your friends or go on a date. Even though the two plates are small, it's enough food for one person. I STRONGLY recommend the banana French toast bread. It's definitely delicious!

                                                        This was our first time here and we were very impressed. Friendly and attentive service and excellent food. A little noisy but the converted bank building has hard surfaces.

                                                        Service was excellent, but was disappointed in the food. We ordered mussels and there was almost no broth that came with it. The fried eggplant had way too much couscous, and tasted a little bland. The scallops were excellent but the dish was so salty. Had a fish cake and that was excellent, definitely the best part of the meal. The ambiance and service was amazing though. Overall, the food was fine but I wouldn't say it's worth the price.

                                                        Welcoming ambiance and service. The food was not as expected, we ordered the salad and tuna to start, the salad wasn’t fresh/not crispy and the tuna lacked flavor. I had the fish as my main and it was very dense, everything on the plate was fried or seared in butter. It’s an elegant restaurant with great service but the food needs some modifications.

Food presentation was great and wine selection was amazing. Would recommend to anyone who wants a great romantic evening with that someone special
