Chef Stephanie Izard and her team are thrilled to have joined LA’s vibrant restaurant community and continue our tradition of serving bold-flavored foods in a fun and lively family-style setting. Stephanie and her team have also crafted new dishes inspired by California produce and local flavors, like carrot-tahini dip with tahini tofu, and curried goat with radishes, pickled vegetables, and masa chips. To enhance the experience we offer a selection of wines from around the world with a focus on small producers, a rotating list of craft beers, and a list of innovative cocktails created by our bartenders.

Located in the Arts District at 555 Mateo, Girl & the Goat offers dinner service Monday through Sunday, plus brunch Sunday. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, travelers and adventurers!

    Our experience was not great. My husband and I arrived early for our reservation so we tried to find a seat at the bar while waiting for our table, only to be snapped at by a bartender and a patron, who already had a spot at the bar, about trying to grab some seats that others were leaving and nicely offered to us. Our table wasn’t ready until 10 minutes after our reservation time so we stood in the doorway with our drinks for 30 minutes. When we got our table, it was on the open air patio and the heater wasn’t working so it was very cold. I was fine as I had a jacket but we watched another couple come and leave the restaurant, as they were not comfortable. By the end of the dinner, I was shivering. Our server was nice and did her best but seemed overwhelmed. Twice we had other tables’ orders brought to us and once we had the wrong order (though the server took care of that and comped it). We overheard the table next to us get the wrong order as well and the server comped that for them. The food, to me, was just ok. I can see how others may like - and it wasn’t bad - but there were so many flavors that sort of overwhelmed and canceled one another out. It wasn’t the enjoyable experience (food and service) that I’ve had at Bestia and Bavel.

    Though our initial table was for 9:15 we were not sat until 9:50, once sat we were given a table outside with tons of traffic noise and constant headlights beaming at my face. Thankfully our server was able to recommend some great dishes and the food was amazing. Slightly bothered by the initial service which is disappointing because of how amazing the food was. The brussels sprouts and bass were the stars of the show, packed with flavor.

    Found hair in our food twice and they just gave us a scoop of ice cream which we didn’t want. They didn’t have the courtesy to not charge for the dish which had thr hair.

    The host just did not want to give us a nice table. She tried to seat us at the high tops when we booked standard seating, we told her that we booked standard seating and after looking at her computer for a while she put us in the nearest table to the door to the patio and there were lots of people opening and closing it while there were lots of tables right in front of us while we were watching people sat by other hosts in those tables. That definitely didn’t make our much anticipated Valentine’s Day date feel special. The waitress was nice and the foods and drinks were good but we felt like the hostess ruined it for us by going out of her way to pick the worst table, the other people’s reservations were not any more important than ours.

    Had a Great Experience! have been wanting to try this place for a while! Our waiter Lokahi, took really good care of us making the experience even better! Our favorite dish from the Dine LA menu was the sichuan basted bass! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    I love this restaurant. Excellent food and drink all around, but I have never, not once, been sat in time for my reservation. With such steep cancellation policies, which I entirely understand, I should hope a better dedication to honoring reservation times.
