Godai by Sakana is located in the heart of San Juan. What started as a Omakase Speakeasy in a janitorial Closet in San Jose Building, quickly became one of the most sought after restaurant with only 6 seats and a waiting list of 6+ months.
Godai represents our three concepts in one building living in harmony to provide the best dinning experience in Puerto Rico and the Caribean. It sits at the base of a typical Puerto Rican House/Building turned into a Restaurant on the corner of Calle del Parque and calle Finlay, Santurce.
The restaurant has been owned by Chefs Cesar Vega and Chef Daysi since opening it’s first location in 2021 and during that time it has evolved considerably, both in food and in experiences.Chef Cesar’s tasting menu consists of Japanese inspired Omakase courses.
Guest can now also visit the Godai by Sakana Restaurant for Chef Cesar’s Dining Experience with both abbreviated versions of Chef’s Cesar tasting menu and new menu to pair with champagne or sake.

Great experience! Food and service was excellent. Chef Chacho and Chef Daisy made sure we had a great experience and guide us through all the menu.

Amazing experience at Godai! Every dish was great and the champagne tasting thst went with it as well. Will be back again!

La comida estuvo bien. Overpriced si se compara con similares en la zona. Servicio algo lento pero muy atentos.

The experience at Godai by Sakana was truly exceptional from the moment we arrived to the warm farewell as we left. The combination of outstanding food, exquisite wine, and a welcoming ambiance created an atmosphere that felt like dining with longtime friends. The exceptional human touch made our visit unforgettable. This was our first time here, but it certainly won’t be our last. Every detail added to the overall value—the staff and the owner clearly have a passion for hospitality, making every guest feel comfortable and genuinely cared for.

From the moment you step into Godai by Sakana, you know you’re in for something special. This elegant yet inviting restaurant offers a dining experience that goes beyond just a meal—it’s an artful journey through Japanese flavors and craftsmanship. We have been three times and there is always something new to try. We absolutely love it ❤️💯

Godai by Sakana is the most Japanese authentic restaurant in Puerto Rico. You can feel it even in the parking lot. The food is amazing, the staff are great and the Chef is really detailed explaining all the food that he brings to the table. I look forward to go back and reserve the Omakase area! Top-notch! Five stars to this restaurant!
