   Overall we were less than impressed with our experience. 2 people ordered prawn cocktail and they were the smallest we had ever seen, being served in very small dishes. At £9.25 each they were very overpriced. One of the mains was rump steak which was very poorly cooked. Instead of slightly pink it oozed blood which flooded the plate. A side order of pigs in blankets were barely cooked. The staff were very inattentive, definitely not interested if everything was alright. Next to our table was a service bell which was very annoying. Definitely not an experience we would wish to repeat.

   Can't speak highly enough. Service, value for money and food all exceptional. Best steak and ale pie I've ever had. Sunday roasts were plentiful and delicious.

   Staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed our food. But it’s busy at lunchtime so plan a bit of a wait for a drink n chat before you eat. But it’s worth waiting for as it was obviously freshly made, proper food. It’s a cosy pub with flagged floors and log fires and there were regulars and locals in always a good sign. Also dog friendly. I’ve been before as a walker with dog and came with girlfriends today and enjoyed all occasions

   Low quality food, service very average. We have been before several times and had really nice meals but on this occasion it was below average.

   We have never actually been on a Saturday night before but the food and service was as good as it always is. Great food everyone tried something different as well and it was fantastic. Can't recommend this place enough as every time we have been this last 9 months it's been great food and service.

   Not at all what we expected, dogs barking and snarling at each other from the adjacent bar area. Walking parties in abundance and very noisy. Our food was a post Christmas choice of beer battered cod and chips. What arrived was a nice sized fish but suffering from an undrained greasy batter that sat on a layer of chips accompanied with cold and rationed mushy peas! We had so looked forward to visiting the Golden Cock but left a little disappointed.
