   My wife found Gonzo Izakaya and took me there for my birthday. We travelled through Japan on several occasions and I worked in Nagoya, Tokyo and Kagoshima over many years. Gonzo is super authentic and it truly feels like you are in any real Japanese pub in any major city in Japan. Highly recommended and the place has a great vibe and atmosphere. The staff are Japanese and offer the best service just like back home. Check out the second restroom with a map showing the staff’s hometowns!

   I can’t say enough about our experience at Gonzo!!!Our party of 3 became a party of 4 at the last minute and the staff was so quick to accommodate, which we really appreciated. The staff was just wonderful overall!! From recommendations to portion sizes and explanations of different dishes we were eager to try, 10/10 hospitality. The food was out of this world. We went in blind and everything we selected was so unbelievably flavourful, the timing was perfect, and the presentation was delightful. Considering the amount of variety and the number of dishes we ordered between 4 people, our total ended up being about $45 a head before tax and tip which was beyond reasonable (we were not drinking but their house special was $9.00 pints of Asahi which isn’t bad!) Thank you to all the servers who made our night memorable and the back of house staff who made a wicked meal. Can’t wait to come back.

    This place is incredible!!! I literally can’t get enough :) It’s so homey and the food is to die for!! Perfect for a quick dinner with friends or even date night - my girlfriend and I love it here and I know you will too!!
