Train station food is more functional, than form. Eating at the Grand Brasserie in Grand Central is quite a delight. You must try it. The food is unbelievably good, French bistro-like, where everything is made well. We've had 3 occasions to revisit this restaurant; had breakfast, lunch and dinner here, and ALL of it was wonderful. We've had the mussels, steak, chicken, duck, hamburger, haricot vert (so simple yet soo good), breads and chocolate mousse. Even the side of home made butter was something that I ended up packing home. If you have some time to spare (or missed your train) go sit and enjoy the beautiful ambience. You will be pleasantly surprised!

Now that the staff is training up, the service is much improved from the opening weeks.

Our server was rude and unwilling to make or ask the chef to make any changes to what was written on the menu. One in our party was allergic to egg yolks, and the omelette could not be made with whites. I ordered from the prix fixe brunch menu and wanted two from the starters section instead of one starter and one entree, and that change couldn't be made. Additionally, a cappuccino was served with curdled milk foam, and my entree was brought to the table before I had finished my starter, which I obviously asked them to take away u til I was ready. It sat, clearly, under a heat lamp so that the salad on the plate was wilted when delivered. While the location and menu are great, the food was not worth the prices and I would not go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Great food, waiters were nice but came too often to check if we were done with our food.

We really enjoyed our dinner. Only complaints would be that I reserved a table in the main dining room and we were seated in the bar area which was very busy and very loud. There were no open tables in the dining room at that time. Then why would you take a reservation for the dining room at that time. Also the chicken dish said on the menu that it came with a petite salad but it no longer does. So update the menu. But the good and service were very good. So overall a great meal!

I've been to this restaurant several times, and while I love the location in GCT (super convenient) and the ambiance (gorgeous design), the rigidity of the kitchen and the sub-par service keep me from giving it a good review. The rigidity of the kitchen is over the top. There are absolutely NO substitutions or alterations allowed to the menu - even if they have the options on the menu. For example, I asked if I could have a salad instead of fries with my steak - NO. My friend asked if he could add spinach in his omlette - NO. It didn't matter that salad and spinich were readily available on the menu and in the kitchen, and that we offered to pay extra. It takes a lifetime for coffee service and/or refills if you are there for breakfast. The service is anything but hospitable. Most of the servers are rude (a few exceptions) and as inflexible as the kitchen. You either feel completely ignored because you have to flag them down for service (only when they are slow) or like you are being rushed out because they keep coming by every 5 minutes to see if you are done yet (when they are busy). Here is my recommendation: Breakfast: Not very busy (yet) but expect slow service and no substitutions or alterations to the menu...even if they only have (2) other tables and the kitchen is not busy. The answer will always be NO! Lunch: This is your best option. Not overly crowded and the service seems to be a bit better, but still no flexibility on the menu. Dinner: Stay away. It is mayhem because of it's location in GCT so everyone wanting to grab a quick drink / bite before heading home is here. The bars are often VERY crowded so it's wildly loud in the main area. The service will be lighting fast becuase you are being rushed out. Again, no flexibility on the menu. Order what they offer or eat elsewhere. I really want to love this place, but until they address the kitchen's inflexibility and the service, I cannot reccommend.

This is my second time at a Grand Brasserie restaurant after a disappointing first and I'm still disappointed. This hospitality group keeps thinking that you can fool people because of the aesthetics. While the restaurants are lovely, the food continues to be mediocre at best and the service even worse. I had been at the midtown location and it was terrible. I gave it a second chance at the Grand Central location and it wasn't that much better. The menu is basic and that would be ok even if overpriced but they missed completely on the basics of good service: We had 3 waiters because they kept on not returning and we had to call them, we bought fizzy water and that was quick but when asked for tap water, it took them forever to provide it, we had to ask for salt and pepper for the table, we had to ask them to change our flatware for the main course, the coffee was ice cold, and the drinks were below average. And we are paying full NYC prices!!! Will not be returning to any of their locations.

What a gem in Grand Central! The stunning architecture of the station is blended with amazing food and the ambiance of a classic French bistro. Highly recommend.
