This was really disappointing. We were meeting friends and had been recommended eating here, so had hoped for a lovely evening. We don’t often eat out, so for us- it was a long awaited treat. We were disappointed re the rule regarding alcohol- our son works at a local restaurant and so is aware of the lisence laws that with adults- and there were 4- an alcoholic drink can be had during a meal. We presumed an online driving lisence with a photo, would have been acceptable. There are ways that staff can inform you of rules if they differ from the normal, however, the waitresses manner was not overly friendly. If at this point we could have left without ordering and eating we would have done but I was aware that I had already left credit card details so guess if we had left, we would still have to pay. There was no one to greet us at door despite it not being overly busy. The atmosphere in the Greyhound was unusual-The party next to us in the bar were loud, often with loud offensive swearing through the evening, and for our table- this is not something we are happy to tolerate as we don’t use the “f word” ourselves- certainly not when out for dinner. It did make us feel very uncomfortable. The white wine we had was not nice - the white Rioja -and I didn’t personally drink my wine. I preferred to drink the tap water instead. Unfortunate as I had ordered a large glass. The food was ok- didn’t find it overly hot, and there was mixed feedback from our party. The chicken supreme was nice as were the desserts. We won’t be returning to eat here again.

Oh my, Oh my! The absolute best roast in East Devon by far! Every time we go the vegetables are different and plenty of them, just a few potatoes which is more than enough for the large portion of various vegetables and massive Yorkshire Pudding! The meat just falls apart and a side order of cauliflower cheese is to die for. Sadly no room for pudding but just the best roast! Ensure to book a table and pre-book your meat as it’s always busy & can sell out. Be back again soon

Food was excellent. Only slightly let down by the way we were asked to move our two motorhomes, because (unknown to us) we were ‘taking up 5 spaces’. Which we politely obliged of course. Just a polite request to reposition would have been enough. Then we were told three times that our table was booked after us and we would need to be finished by 2 pm. Leaving us feeling our booking was less important that the next. All a bit excessive really as we hadn’t even had our drinks order take before we were told this and we weren’t a ‘walk in’. Anyway, just mention these points in case it helps the owners consider their approach to clients going forward as the food really is excellent.
