Went to dinner before Alley Theatre. Got to restaurant before 6 pm for a 7:30 pm curtain call. Service started out great but as soon as the restaurant filled up service went South. We never got our dessert and it took over 20 minutes to get our bill paid. I had purchased some Landry's coupons over the holidays and the staff, including the manager, had great difficulty in applying the coupons to the bill. Manager had to manually input the very large coupon numbers even though coupon has a bar code.

Grotto provided an intimate experience where the service demonstrated care. The food was delicious and the team was always willing to offer opinions or answer any questions. They played music in the background at an appropriate level to allow for a quiet yet not-too-quiet dinner.

The overall setup was very nice. The meatball appetizer was outstanding, and the pasta had a nice flavor as well. I wasn’t expecting to spend as much as I did so from a pricing standpoint, it was a bit of a letdown. Otherwise, the overall experience was one to remember.

Everything is ala carte. If you want bread you pay for it. Salad was excellent. My pasta dish was meh. Service was good. Not really authentic Italian food in my opinion.
