This was our first time at this restaurant, which was suggested by our adult son to celebrate his birthday. It was outstanding! The food was delicious, and the service was fantastic. Our server make excellent alternative suggestions to help with a food sensitivity. It was not inexpensive - we did the course menu experience & added 2 bottles of flavored sake - but worth it for the celebratory experience. I would definitely recommend and would be happy to stop in & sit at the bar and enjoy just the Beef Sukiyaki Bibimbap! It was a favorite of everyone at the table.

It was delicious. I was late for my reservation so had to wait like 20 more minutes. Server was good and knowledgeable. Grill was perfect. We Had Shrimp and Mushrooms with garlic 🔥 Marinated steaks are absolutely killer here any of them all were incredible flavor. Garlic noodles are dangerously good. Karaage was on point. Dessert was good enough. Wish they had Japanese Cheescake.

The restaurant is overall amazing but my only issue is when you have to wait to be seated when you do your reservation. I reserved a table for 8PM and it was just me and a friend. We got there at 7:55PM and we're told to wait which was fine. Then we would see large groups coming in with later reservation times but would get seated before us. We waited an additional 15-20 minutes after our reserved time and were finally seated. Our server was amazing and the food was delicious! One of my favorite restaurants, but just need to work on seating people on time.

The food here is always delicious! My favorite restaurant in Minneapolis by far! Do yourself a favor and order the garlic fried rice to go alongside your meats.

We went out for my lady birthday and if we had any questions they were answered and I felt sum people were asking a lot of questions but they were all answered without a attitude and did not seem annoyed and the food was good

Frustrated over new price changes but especially the additional 3% credit card charge. You are not a mom and pop shop. Adding this charge is ridiculous

Found this place on Yelp and decided to venture out of downtown Minneapolis. It was nice that we could make a reservation for our party of 6 and not have to wait. Parking is very limited, so beware. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive. The service was great. We ordered a prefix menu for 6, which was more than enough food for all of us. What I enjoyed most about the service was the fact that our waiter didn't bring out all the food at once. He brought some out and waited until we were almost finished with what he had brought and asked us if we were ready for more. It was an excellent meal and I would highly recommend this place for Japanese BBQ.

We had never been to Gyu-Kaku, and what a pleasant surprise. Andy, our server, who has been there for 3+ years, was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He let us know what to expect, what would go well with our meal choices, and what were his favorites. He made our night. The Japanese A5 Wagyu special was truly worth the price, but the premiere favorites - Hamira, fried chicken, and others were fabulous. We loved every bite, and had fun grilling parts of our meal while having the time to talk to each other. We will be back and will bring our 5-year-old. Thank you for making our 11th Anniversary meal a real treat, including the ice cream treat along with the s'mores!

Such good food and a fun experience! Reasonable prices as well. Definitely recommend the short rib.
